Optimum EGT range for a S5 13B

Hi,
me again, I am planning on using the Racing Beat race apex seals, the carbon ones, in my ITS car next season and it seems these dont like pre det. or high temps. Anyone have a exhaust gas temp that is where she would want to be? If I am wrong about the needs of the seals tell me im a moron, thanks again fellas.

On my 13B PP motor with carbon apex seals, I see about 1680 deg F. Jim Downing told me that was a little too high for him to feel comfortable.

SP= street port (or side port for japan/Kangaroo and kiwi lands)
BP= bridge port, eyebrow cut above the main port to change timing
PP= periphereal port fill stock ports with devcon, and cut honking big holes in rotor houseing above where the stock ports would be thread in pipe port to taste

BP = 250~280 flywheel hp with power band starting around 4~5K up to 8K
PP = 300~350 flywheel hp with power band starting around 5~6K up to 9~10K when built right

RE= rotary engine
Search = looking for info with search button
reseach= rotary engine, searching for knowledge and the art of.

Several factors influence EGT. With the advent of affordable wideband meters the use of the EGT gauge as a tuning tool is becoming obsolete. Take it to the bank that you will see peak torque with around 25-27* full adavance. Set this up on a load bearing dyno where you can see the effects of the adjustment in real time. In the same way use the wideband to set the engine up for rich best torque. There will be a range of a/f ratios where adjustment really doesn't have a large effect on power output. We've found that to be in the 12.5-13.5 range with out ITS engines. Setting it up on the rich side of that range allows for good power while being as safe as possible. Again, this should all be done on the dyno to verify your results.

With that you will end up with an engine that should give you three solid seasons at a minimum running 87 octane. Those seals are easily up to the challenge that the IT engine will provide.
