Thumbs up Open Track Sunday after Seven Stock @ Button Willow Raceway

NASA is holding a race weekend October 8-9 at Button Willow Raceway in Button Willow. It is about 1.5 hours from the SS8 activities. I will be running my Road Race car there on Sunday, and would encourage fellow Rotorheads to join me. The event features an HPDE(High Performance Driving Event), for all skill levels, including beginers who wish to have an instructor. In addition there will be a wide variety of race venues on this day. Cost is generally 149.00 for four 20 minute sessions. To sign up, you will need to join NASA(20.00 IIRC), and with your membership, you will recieve a one year membership to Grassroots Motorsports. Then, all you need is a vehical in good mechanical condition, and a helmet Snell 95 or later. Please read the section on HPDE for further instructions on teching your car, and other regulations.
As an added bonus, Ryan Scott (Boosted7) is planning to do a photoshoot for RX Tuner Magazine on that day. I will post all the links, and you can contact NASA directly if you wish to sign up for this event. Do not wait too long, as the event will likely fill up early. That said, if you do decide late, give them a call, as NASA can usually squeeze you in. If you have general questions, you can post them here, or you can call me at 707-696-2705. I will post a link to this thread in the west section, but please spread the word. Let's see if we can get a serious representation of Rotaries at this great event. Thanks, Carl Byck

Sweet, I thought you'ld be there. This should be a great time. I'll be installing a second new clutch next week, the first one did not hold.

I was going to tow back from Irvine, but BW is only ~2 hours vs 7 for Infineon. Carl

Not a bad ideaer. I might take the REPU up there in beginner class for kicks. a LOT easier than fixing the rx7 and towing up.

Nice, This could turn out to be quite the "after party" Ryan's taking pics is just icing on the cake. Spread the word to your other track feind freinds. I am going to give the sothern regional director a call, and see if there are any "accomadations" they can make for our group. Perhaps if the locals know a group from SS8 will be there, we can get even more rotary participation.
Brad, do group 2, instruction when you want it, not when you don't. Group 1 is too slow...
Do not wait to sign up if you know you woill be going, hate to see it fill up. I will post on NASA forums as well.
Mark, you should get your check today. Will you be at T'hill in OCT, and Nov.? I am tinking of running the RX in the 25 hour at low boost. Maybe just off and on for the fun/track time. Interested? I would also put the Tripoint nose on instead of my one off nose...

Anyone fancy taking me for a ride?

I am coming over for SS8, so any other events are good.

Coming from the UK... How about a ride in a 500rwhp Widebody FC on slicks I will give you a ride for sure. You would need to get to the track though. I will do a map blast so we know how far it actually is. Carl

Good point, I run Sparco REV seats, if you are over ~200 you will never fit.

Nismo, rent a trailer from Uhaul, or even a truck, and trailer. Why can't you just drive?

My car will spontaneously combust driving that far haha.

But really, the LA freeways are trash and I dont wanna ruin my diffuser or exhaust on the haul there like last time. Any ideas on cost of a trailer from Uhaul? Ive been meaning to contact them but havent had the time recently.

Carl/Diyman25, thanks for the offers. I will be hiring a car to get me around whist I am in the US.

I'm a little over 11 stone, so should fit in both seats. Now I wonder what my travel insurance will say about it.

Thanks
Fish

Thanks for the update, Grassroots Motorsports subscription= 20.00, and you can get Koniig wheels for 50.00-75.00 each (any style) with membership. Not that you would want them, but hey Anyway, still a great deal, wheel to wheel for 4- 20 minute sessions for 150.00 vs AX or any other motorsport. But I'm not trying to sell memberships here, just trying to get some Rotaries to go to the track for fun, and a nice professional photoshoot. For me, I race in Nor Cal, so being down for SS8, and then racing at a So Cal track is an added bonus. Carl

Gotta ask, since you're sharing the local flavor, how much is a stone in lbs?

I'm now on the fence; a friend might be out from MI on a business trip and running the HPDE, and it woudl be handy to shake own our lighting system on the endurance car...
