Open Class FC Body Work

The money pit that is my TurboII SCCA ITE/NASA Super Touring build continues. Just ordered an AiM dash/data system and AEM EMS to replace the Microtech MT8. In for a penny, in for a pound, right?

So... I have jgrewe's hood and lightweight hatch. What're the options for the rest of the bodywork? I see AWRs EP body work; is that my best option? Fenders, quarters, grille/splitter & undertray? Anybody know how much weight the fibreglass body will shave off?

I'd be surprised if the fenders would really impact weight much more than a few pounds, the stock fenders are surprisingly lightweight IMHO. Dunno about the rear quarters, lot beefier steel back there, but I think the idea with the fiberglass is more for wider tire clearance more than significant weight savings.

I have an EP body as well as the hood and hatch that I make. There is almost no weight savings going to fiberglass over the stock tin. I would say 5lbs! Unless you need the room for huge tires skip it. You are also adding to your frontal area so you are punching a slightly bigger hole in the air.

A front splitter of some kind is almost a must. There are plenty of those out there. I you want to make your own let me know I can send you some pics.

How much wider is the body? Do you have the front end and rear bumper like the AWR folks?

I need the room for huge tires. :-) We're aiming for 400+rwhp from the 13BT and we're guessing a minimum of 255mm fronts and 275mm rears, maybe even 275s all around.

With skinny tires like NT01 a 255 will fit up front on a 17x8.5 +30 or 17x9 +24 with just the fender edge rolled under and proper camber (as much as you can get on an FC- LOL)

275 rear on 17x9.5 +40 on stock fenders or 17x10 +35 with a little fender roll fits.

No need to molest the body unless you want to go wide on the rims and tires.

My set up
