That is a nice car. The wheel wells look odd from that angle since it is open behind the wheel. this was the standard IMSA 2nd gen body. Car has a new motor and could be a nice vintage racer. Mazda also like to have this car at alot of its events as well. One of the only surviving Mazda GTU cars.

Bernie did a nice job of restoring this car. He said there was not much West coast vintage stuff that he was eligible to run in, so I guess that is the reason he is selling it. There are a couple of east coast sanctioning bodies that it could run in here back east.

Benny/Bernie whatever. He also bought a CRX for NASA's honda challenge and lost all interest in the GTU car. Vintage racing wasn't the original plan, but it could run in alot of groups. Vintage racing(if you could call it racing ) is very low key around here. Guys pretty much hot lap and don't race to close or to hard. The car is nice and could race anywhere. it has alot of modern safety items that have been upgraded.

I guess I had a brain lapse when trying to remember his name; I have corresponded with him a few times about two years ago.
There is a huge difference in the mind set of different vintage racing sanctioning bodies. On the east coast, HSR says that their R stands for racing and they mean it. The guys up front in HSR race pretty hard. Many pros and former pros race in HSR on their off weekends. Yes, there are a few guys in the back who are just riding around, but I see that in SCCA racing too.

It can take some time to sell vintage race cars for top dollar.
Yes, some areas have very good and competitive vintage racing, but here the vintage racing is very timid.
