New to auto-x. What class is my FC?
Just started running auto-x in my local region (Cincinnati, OH) in D Street with my '13 WRX just to get a feel for the SCCA and autocross as a whole. So now that I have a couple events under my belt I'm thinking about changing over to my FC, but I'm not sure if it will be competitive in the class it would be placed in. Here's the mod list of the car.
'88 Rx7
Original motor, stock port
TII Drivetrain
Racing Beat Header
Rx7.com high flow cat
Apexi N1 Carback
Haltech Sprint RE
Fortune Auto 500 Coilovers
SuperNow Tie Rod Ends
SuperNow Rear Camber Bar
AWR Individual Camber links
Part Shop Max Rear Toe adjust
17x8 Wheels
I have plans to swap a TII motor in it at some point, but that's a ways away so for now, what class would it fall into and would it be competitive? Or are there some changes that could be made to make more competitive in it's class? Thanks!

Lowest class possible is SSM
Because- TII drivetrain, if you removed stock ECU wire harness when you put in standalone, Supernow tie rod ends, Supernow rear camber bar, AWR individual camber adjusters and Parts Shop Max rear toe adjusters.
Class would be same with any Mazda engine swap.
FC isn't competitive, but neither are new auto-x drivers so get in there and have fun learning. Once you have been doing it a while and gotten to drive some other cars you will know what you want to do.

technically you can run SM.
Since some FCs had 4 seats, and you can remove the back seats in SM... it's legal. You can forward/backdate all the other differences on your car via the SP forward backdate rule (all SP rules apply to SM)
This has only been legal this year since they got rid of some odd wording in the SM rules the disallowed "sports car based 4 seaters" from SM.
Eventually I'll make it out to some Ohio national events... hope to see you out there

I was looking for the wording that allowed FCs in SM for 2015 since I had seen you mention it.
It makes sense since 240s were in SM. "sports car based" was pretty grey area.
I note they removed the "sports car based" wording from SM, but we still have cars like all Porsche and 240Z 2+2 on the sample exclusion list. Need more clarification in this class.

Seeing how FCs might take extensive modification, I think I'll just stick to my WRX and get some good tires for it and just learn on that for a while.
