Talking My first autox today

Well I just wanted to share with everyone that I ran my first autox today and had an absolute blast. I must say that the racing bug has bit me pretty damn hard. I ended up doing fairly well for a first timer so I was happy. The cool thing was that on every run I would get about a second faster. Also I didn't hit a single cone all day although I did miss a gate on my first run after I spun.

I can't wait untill next months auto x school.

If you didn't hit a cone all day... you did not get close enough to them. LOL!!

Prepare to live on ramon noodles and possibly move to a cardboard box. Crack has nothing on Autoracing.

My first autox was a giant course in the middle of no where and it was raining. Out of 6 runs I got lost the first three and then got progressively faster on the last three. Other guys were faster but they got lost even more often than me. I think I was third in novice that day

Actually I should change my statement. I hit two cones but I didn't knock any over. But I did see some pictures of my car and I was too far from the cones, but that will come in its due time.

It's OK to hit a cone once in a while It's also OK to spin out once in a while ....... especially when you are learning. Just don't make a habit of it

And when you do spin be sure to keep the throttle mashed open so it makes great clouds of tire smoke and everyone will clap

Actually it's funny you should mention this. When I spun I knew I couldn't recover so I tried to mash the gas and pull a 360. Well I was comming downhill when I spun so when I did the doughnut and the back of the car starting going back up it, well, it kinda stopped moving and just smoked a lot.

Glad to hear you had fun. I started 2 years ago and am now addicted. I can't think of a better way to spend a sunday and I can't wait to try autox in my RX-7. I'll continue to run my Protege5 for this year. My goal is to get the RX-7 running and run a local club level event with it by the end of the year.

Good job, glad you had fun. Jims5543 wasn't joking with the crack comment, it's highly addictive. I'm getting ready to start my 2nd season (and 1st FULL season) of autox, can't wait. I'm also planning on doing some HPDE this year too, my rollbar and harnesses will be in by the end of March
