msd 6BTM on a 87 t2

just want to know if there worth putting on and would i need 2 msd units? i have a few local rotary guys around but there into the 1/4 mile racing and i never see anything about useing MSD on here. from what i read on these units the MSD 6BTM is the one to use on a turbo motor but which rpm modules 3000, 6000, 7000, 8000 would be best to use with this unit.

No, you'd need THREE to handle the leadings and both trailings.
I dunno why you're worried about the timing retard, as the stock ECU does this automatically.
