Lightening components

Does anyone have experience with lightened running gear? Things like gun drilled axles, pinion shafts, transmission shafts. Lightened ring gears and axle flanges etc.

Advice? Cost? Durability?

Just about everything you list has such a low polar moment and low speed I don't know if there is enough gain for the money or time involved. I know you can get T10 trans parts gun drilled that is all I've heard of. Most other stuff just has lighter stuff available like carbon fiber driveshafts etc. Have you already spent $10K on carbon fiber rims?

I would start by seeing what kind of secret squirrel stuff the circle track guys are doing. Hell, they use 'qualifying' oil filters.
