Light weight battery?

What are my options out there and what has worked out well for you personally?
I dont want to spend over $150.00, dont want a battery that wont have the power to crank the car if I leave the door open for 5 minutes but I do want a decent weight savings. Hoping to find something in the 15lb rand or less that will hold a decent charge?

Also if anyone is aware of where to find a decent deal on a quality lightweight battery that would be appreciated. Hopefully Fritz and others will chime in.

I am no expert but I looked into this a while back and everyone pushed BRAILE batteries but I found out theyre just relabelled Deka ATV batteries. I know a couple guys using atv batteries on street cars w/o problems. The weight savings seemed significant and theyre in the $80 range.

Ive had the Odyssey PC680 for a few years and I haven't had any problems, and the car was my DD for most of the time. (It's 15lbs too)

harley davidson buell lighting batt. like 11-12 lbs $90 from the harley dealer. its sealed batt. so you can mount it anyway you want. its got enough cc amps to start ANY rotary. it will still start the car if you leave the door open for 5 min

I ran a odessey 680 for 3 years in my cobra. Idling in traffic with the pulled fan on would drain it. Had more than enough cc amps when charged though. Good battery but need to pay attention to the charge.

I run a sealed lead acid battery in my 1st gen race car. Its the same thing as the Harley battery. Weighs about 14-15lbs. cranks the engine over just fine. I use a battery tender though between race weekends to keep it charged up. seems to work great so far but this is the first season using it.

David, not sure if you have an american battery in your area or not, but I picked up a reconditioned gel battery that came from a lawn mower for $30 that is the exact same specs, dimensions, and weight as my Westco Miata battery. However, my Westco came with a nice warranty. Either way, I have a nice back up.

Do you have a part number on that battery?
