how did you bypass your heater core?
I'm redoing my coolant system and I want to bypass my heat core until I get a new one. I know I will need a heater core to race (if I want to see )
What’s the best way to do this? The radiator side is no problem (my new rad doesn't have nipple yet) but the block side is a large hose (3/4 or 1 inch ID?) and I do not want something that will fail.
Thank you for our input!

best way is a short length of hose with a metal plug in it. it works, and is totally reversible
or if the engine's apart you can pop the nipple out and thread the hole like the 81 and older engines.
we tried the plugs, and the silicon and all the other stuff, none of em last very long...

+1 on the hose and bolt combo. I was running the Help hose nipple on the block outlet for a while. After blowing them out twice while on track and dumping all my coolant (not a good thing) I got a section of proper hose and a 3/4" bolt from Home Depot. Coat the bolt threads in RTV black, install in the hose with a clamp and let it cure. Then clamp it on the block outlet. I've been running it for two seasons w/o a problem.
Good luck,

I live in Michigan so winters mornings require heat, but this is a patch until I have cash to buy a nice new heater core.

Factory fan is great, just heavy. If this is a street car and you're even thinking about late fall, early spring some place even marginally cold you'll want a heater car, though...
