They're not in the shop. Might be in "deep storage" which will require a can of hornet killer.

Not RX7 related, but I had told myself no goodies for my MX-5 until the RX7 was running successfully.

Well the day came:

18x8 Enkei EKM3s with 225/40 Continental ExtremeContact rubber. I need to roll the fenders just a touch and then they'll being going into daily driver duty.

I got serious about my fueling issues:

110gph or 416lph. No worries about flow now.

A successful weekend at Okemo II Hillclimb. The car is running awesome after a carb adjustment. Now to work on the driver.

I've been quiet, but not stagnant.

After getting thoroughly soaked at Okemo II due to a massive rain storm, I girded my loins, or checkbook, and did this:

24 feet of safe, secure and DRY transport/camping.

In a week we have a special autocross at a new track in Canaan NH, which is going to be much higher speeds than usual events. First though I must silence the RX7 a bit more. I've ordered a new 2-1 collector and a RacingBeat 3" muffler. I may add another one going across the back of the car if I really need to shut things up. Mazdatrix ran this setup in their EP car with good results.

If I weren't on call this weekend, I'd join you at Canaan. It looks like it'd be a fun course. Have fun, and if you want to borrow a fistful of cameras for some tuft testing, stop by in Manchester on your way up. I'm not sure how much tuft testing you can do at an AutoX, but the option's on the table.

Maybe it's time to scrub in the tire I had to replace after Okemo, in that case. I'll have to see if there are any slots left tomorrow.

Canaan was a giggle, but Ascutney this past weekend was the real deal!

Ascutney II Nelson Shepard Memorial Hillclimb was this past weekend. This is the final hillclimb of my season, and a bookend to the spring Ascutney where the car made its debut and couldn't limp past check one. Lots on the line!

The car ran awesome all weekend, though I can of course pick out faults. More data for offseason work for sure.

My previous fastest time on this hill was a 3:18. Saturday I ran a 3:14 and then a 3:07 and it was clear there was a lot more left in the car.

Saturday is practice, so times don't count.

It rained overnight so the road was wet Sunday morning. I skipped the first timed runs to try to let the competition dry things out. The plan worked a little, but there were still lots of greasy spots on the road. My not-so-limited rear differential wasn't helping me either. Still, I ran a 3:08 with a shift balk at the beginning of the longest straight. That sapped about 20mph off my top speed on that stretch. Ugh.

And then I ran out of gas on my next run. With no more premix oil around and high standards for what I'll put in the car, I loaded her into the trailer and played the part of spectator for the afternoon, hoping that my time would hold up against a charging Walter Clark, who has been running the hill for a long time now and has a very well developed VW Golf.

He missed the mark by 3 tenths of a second, which means I finished 2nd behind Chris DuBois in an S2k. I'll take it!

The car will begin winter tear down soon so further development can happen. Big things are planned!

I KNEW that camera would come in handy. It's too bad you aren't racing at Philo, I have some great spots I plan to put it there.

Yeah, the truck is going to be on horse duty that weekend anyway. Womp Womp.

RX7 post-season teardown commences soon. All-new rear end design coming.

I put down around 200 last time I was there, but have made a large number of changes since then that have the car feeling WAY better since the engine has bedded in a little.

The carb has been rejetted and the ignition system was straightened out more as well. I had the plug wires switched....

Forgot to include that I have Rob do all my alignments. He does a great job, gets exactly what I want and doesn't settle until it's set exactly right.

Cool that's where we will go then. Are you ported, sounds like a mild bridge?!?

It's a half-bridge right now. The center iron is a large street port. I was trying to maintain some ability to have the thing run right at partial throttle.

I've already been talking to the engine builder about a new setup for 2017 that will be fuel injected and more than 2 rotors. Muahahahaha

2016 will be focused on further refining the chassis and suspension and getting the power I have to the ground. The unlimited slip differential is killing my mojo.

P/o put a Miata torsen in the car, we have the stock unit as a spare.
That's an interesting porting strategy, we have a spare I want to experiment with.
My personal goal is to get on the hills in 2017, too bad you're trying to go 3rotor we would have been great competitors. Would you still be p3 with the 3 rotor?

It will be a P2 car with a 3 rotor. I figure after 2 seasons, next season will be much busier for me, the engine I have now will need a rebuild anyway - or I'll be craving more power haha.

nice, I approve of all of these things

are you going with 275/35/15s?

I made a thread a while back about assembling a driveshaft for the 8.8. Let me know if you have any questions
EDIT: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...shaft-1081644/

what bilsteins are you going with? AWR 7100s?

yeah 275/35-15s until I decide to pony up the money for some nice light 17" wheels.

Turner Motorsports is 10 minutes away from me and their motorsports suspension guy handles my shock valving. He did a great job on the fronts so I'll let him decide what the rear should have. Anything is an upgrade over the bagged out Koni yellows I have now.

Thanks for the driveshaft info. That was the last thing weighing on my brain about the whole thing.
