fuel tank baffel????
fuel tank baffel????
I just finished a track event and my car would starve fuel when entering the corners at high speed. I narrowed it down to fuel slooshing around in the stock FD tank at high g-forces.
What baffel have you found to work in your track car? I dont want to buy a fuel cell just yet. The only baffel I found was the FEED baffel.

Just create an extra, small vertical "extra" tank outside the stock one. Use a low pressure pump to keep it filled from the stock tank and then draw fuel from the bottom of it with a pump for the injection. Run your return into it as well and have an overflow hose from the outside tank to the stock tank.
Essentially you are making a tall fuel tank that is almost impossible to have the fuel slosh to one side and expose the pick up. About a liter/quart size container will be plenty.
When you do end up with a fuel cell you can use the same system.

This is a well-documented problem with FD's on track, for which the prior solution was simply not running below half tank.... but, Hyperion's cover has solved the problem. It's a great product.

Gotcha!!!! I did a little research thru the FAQ and found hiperions/others thread on the baffle. I had no clue prior to this that rx7's had this problem. I'm going to come up with one of my own and see how it works.
Thanks to all that replied.

Honestly, for 60 bucks or whatever Hyperion's is, it would be a complete waste of time and money to either build one of your own or some kind of constant-pressure surge system.

^agree i started to make my own and found out the time it was going to take to make it work wasn't really worth the money it cost to just buy his. And mine was probably going to look like crap compared to his also.
It's still a deal at $170 (though I paid less on the original GB). By the time you get in there, measure, draw, get online, source materials that won't disolve in gas, order, ship, recieve, fabricate, install, test, order more material, refabricate, reinstall, plus the cost of your time, you'll wish you had.

It's your knuckle skin.
I can tell you though, that with the access available, even just installing a perfectly-made to fit cover, especially on a '93 car, is no picnic. Accuratel measuring everything involved would be a huge pain.
