Good deal, glad to hear you had brakes.

You can run even a fairly modded car w/ track tires with the stock brakes... you need good fluid and track pads... I just ran street pads on my new StopTech big brakes last week and saw some fade... you need the real deal. I'd pass on Hawk Blues, and see if you can locate some Performance Friction 93 front, and 90 rear pads. They are out of production, but i believe Porterfield still has some. Other than that, maybe give Nick @ N-Tech a call, he cariies several different kinds.

Did you determine what type the old pads were when you took them off?

It really depends on how hard the track is on brakes and how sticky your tires are. With DOT racing tires at many tracks I had no problems with stock brakes (if I used racing pads and good fluid). But on tracks known for being tough on brakes they didn't hold up. I now use 13" fronts w/ Wilwood Calipers and the RZ brakes in the rear. Fits under the stock 16" wheels... barely. If you want to stick with the stock brakes (which really are an excellent brake system for a factory offering) just stick to tracks that are easy on brakes or take it a bit easier at the tracks known to kill brakes.
