Ok, so I'm thinking about getting some revalved Bilsteins to use with coilovers on my car and there's two options: AWR sleeves with the P30 Porsche inserts and whatever their rear shocks are, versus off the shelf FC specific Bilsteins, both revalved for the spring rates. The AWR setup is much more expensive, so is there actually any compelling reasons to use it in place of the cheaper ready made solution? Your input is appreciated.

 

I haven't seen the off the shelf stuff. They're fairly new right? The AWR stuff OTOH is VERY beefy! Make off the shelf Koni and Tokico stuff look like children's toys. If you like to attack curbs at all the AWR stuff may be better suited.

 

AWR Bilsteins are custom valved for an FC EP car. so if this is your setup there might be more expensive shocks/struts but none that will work any better. very well built and worth the money for the correct application.

 

I realize that the AWR ones are revalved. I'd plan on getting the off the shelf ones revalved before installing them anyway. I emailed AWR and Tony wasn't familiar with the off the shelf ones, so he had no answers there. I'll try emailing Bilstein to see if anyone there can give me an answer. One thing that comes to mind is that my car is heavier than an EP car, will have less grip and will probably be softer sprung, so the valving on the AWR shocks might not be too appropriate for my car anyway.
