I have a new 1988 turbo motor. NRS seals new housings the list is horrible and expensive. Motor is no longer going to be used in my car so I have it sitting in my basement not being used wit 0KM. Can't seem to sell it.

So I thought maybe I could use it in an FD I plan on buying.

So engine mounts are different and intake I have been told is different. How hard would it be to make it fit? Worth the hassle? Just want to use the block only obviously. Bolt everything 3rdgen related onto it.

Nothing FD will bolt onto the FC block.

4500. New housing NRS seals bearings doweled EYES ETC ETC. I live near Toronto so may not work for you. I have $1000's more in it so I think 4500 is fair.

LOL. Nobody spends money on s4's. Price out the cost of my parts and the labour from the shop and you will realize the cost savings. The new housing are list 1200 a piece.

 

If I had unlimited funds I'd go the route you did but I'm doing a budget rebuild.

You'll have a hard time selling it for that price since a rebuild is 1300 from rotary resurrection.

I wonder how a rebuild can be built for 1300$ considering a rebuild kit cost more then that and the fact these motors are old and tired not to mention most people looking for a rebuild have a blown core.

Yeap, looks like he re-uses alot of parts that should be replaced....again, you get what you pay for.

 

New housings are expensive, and there are all levels of rebuilds. I'm sure if you told rotary resurrection you wanted new housings you would see the price jump way up.

 

Not everyone can afford all brand new parts, this is why he does budget rebuilds.

Majority of us can't afford brand new housings and a master rebuild kit.

I'm not arguing with you. If you have a $10 budget, then yea go with a cheap engine build. It'll last 15 maybe 20k miles if your lucky.

Building an engine with new parts will guarantee you a reliable engine that will last for a very long time.
Well, that is if the engine builder knows how to assemble an engine correctly.

 

You're merely telling me obvious facts, just because someone is not rich doesn't mean they can't enjoy their car.

As long as it runs and is reliable that's all that matters to me.

I'm pretty sure an engine rebuild will last more than 15-20k miles, budget or not.

Hmmm reliable with old bearings, oil scrapers, springs and housings....cool story bro.

I'm a pretty big advocate of "do it right the first time, or dont bother doing it at all"

 

Mandatory parts like coolant seals , apex seals yes, other parts that are within spec have no reason to be replaced unless they're borderline.

Not everyone needs 110+ psi compression to be satisfied , though it is nice.

It has nothing to do with doing it right, more doing what your budget allows and making the best of it.

If I had an unlimited budget I'd have a 20b worth 30 grand in my car.
