The younger of the two suspects, who is 13-years-old, was allegedly driving a stolen black Honda on Thursday in Bell Gardens when it struck another vehicle driven by Arthur Concha, 19.

After the collision, police said the car driven by the 13-year-old crashed into a group of basketball players, killing Jesus Gomez (pictured, above).

The younger suspect fled
I think they are giving too much attention to the fact that they were racing and not enough to the fact that the driver that killed Jesus(strange to say) was only 13 years old, was driving a stolen car, swerved into the other car, and then veared off the road.

(blank stare) AHHA! street racing is the problem

I admit when I was 16 through 17, I was a crazy smart ***, who loved street racing. I thought I was the best driver in the world, I took sooo many chances. I would pass 4-5 cars at a time on the way home from school ( my 83 Rx-7 wasnt runnning good at all and was very slow), super stupid. I did some things back then that now I think back and wonder " how the hell did I not kill myself or anyone else". I was truly dumb, but the thing that really made me stop doing those kind of things was one day after school,
I was speeding down my road, which is narrow and a bumpy country road. I was going about 65 mph, and went over the last hill before my house; it was short air catching hill, and you cant see whats over it. Flying over- on the other side a car pulled out from his driveway, swerving to avoid the car, there was a mom and three 4-5 year old girls walking right before the hill on the other side of the street of the car that just pulled out, including a stroller. All the little girls screamed so high, and my tires were sceaming with smoke as somehow I managed to drift just between the car and the little people. A block down the road I pulled into my driveway shaking like crazy, and feeling like ****. I had a few bad dreams for a while, and was terrified to remember that day. I'm 21 now, and I definitly dont fly down country roads anymore. I admitt to speeding, but usually only 5-10 over, on the freeway. Take my word for it, be careful driving that nice car you worked so hard to make nice and fast, it all could be gone, including someones life in one split second.

Id be willing to make a wager that 60% or more of the people posting on this thread are some serious hypocrites.

Yes, I've been street racing. My cars engine is cracked now, but when it's fixed, I'll probably hit the industrial parks again. Go ahead, bitch @ me; I'm not 13, and my car isn't stolen.

When it's not after 1AM on Friday and Saturday nights, it's hard to get me to go 5mph over the speed limit, and I do hit the track (¼-mile; I'm wanting to get into auto-x'ing whenever I get my car back on the road)

But it still seems that I'm an *******, no matter my driving habits for the rest of the week, because I race in empty industrial parks agenst people who I want to race, that WON'T go to the track. Shun me please, I'm honest.

Actually,

I bought my FD to for two reasons...

1) I love FD's
2) to avoid accidents

I did some pretty stupid things with some of my older cars (one of them was a 85' nissan sentra). I look back and realize that it was sheer luck I didn't kill myself (or anyone else) by taking the vehicle(s) way too far over their limits.

As I got to drive better cars, I've been more careful not to floor it as much or take corners too hard or race everyone on the street.

I am very interested in getting my FD (or another car) on the autox/SCCA track to really race. However, I gotta convince the GF it's not likely I'm going to die in some crash-and-burn accident.

I'm not afraid of my own skill, just the stupid driving of other people. You couldn't imagine how many times people/cars jump out in the middle of the street while I'm NOT getting on it. I don't need to run anyone over anytime soon.

it is very hard for some of us. i got a red license when i was 17 because of some mistake the DMV made and now they won't fix. i have gotten 2 tickets during my red license period, the first of which i went in and the DA said i shouldn't ever have had a red license in the first place, and gave me an extension to straighten things out with the DMV, which isn't going so well. i was supposed to get my license back on the 9th, however, i couldn't afford the $75 dollar reinstatment fee at the time. so i have to wait untill tuesday. if i cannot get this mess with the DMV straightened out, i completely lose my license at my first court date, no question, for a year. this will legally cripple me as there are no other modes of transportation available to me to school or work, so i will have to drive illegally. i'm almost 19 now and paying for someone else's mistake that was made when i was 16.

this all matters because every racing series i have come accross thus far requires you to have a valid driver's license, so no autoX for me. this sucks for me because i someday want to drive in a professional racing team of some kind, so how am i supposed to practice? empty parking lots and winding backraods at night.

if anyone knows of any roadracing series that doens't require a drivers license, please let me know, i'm desperate.

i'm not defending street racing, because i think it's pretty lame and i don't even like drag racing in the first place, i'm just saying, it's not all that easy for eveyone to enter these events.

this has to be the worst excuse I have ever heard. I have to race on the street because I don't have a drivers license. If it truely is a paper work issue then you need to make it your full time job to get it straightened out. and if you don't have $75 to get it straight then pump up the tires on the two wheeler and start pedalling. letting things go for three years is just laziness. go to the office and don't leave until it is fixed. also be prepared to pay all appropriate penalties including lose of license. if you cannot resolve this simple problem professional racing will be more difficult than you can imagine.

well, if you were paying attention, you would see that i don't "street race", i practice in empty parking lots and backroads far from people. yeah i could hit a deer or something, but that'd be my fault, my problem. and i didn't "let it go" for three years, when i went in for my last ticket, the DA just told me then that i should never have had a red license, that was less than 30 days ago, and i have made it my mission to get it all straightened out. i did not have the $75 at the time because i had not gotten paid yet from work, and have had to work from that day untill tomorrow so i could not get my license untill tomorrow. and bicycling is pretty much out of the question given the lack of public transportation, and how far apart everything is in colorado. besides, my point wasn't to defend street racing, an activity i don't even engage in, it was to illustrate that not everyone can go to autoX, plunk down the $35 and start racing.

just so you know, wouldn't want you to jump to conclusions or anything.

I think this has run its course and will be locked now.

Seems to me street racers are like marijuana smokers. You can bleat all you want about how you are smarter than most idiots and won't hurt yourself or anyone else, but in the end it's still illegal.

Thems the facts. Deal with it.
