EP track times

Ive been thinking about a few things latelly that made me curious about how much quicker an E production FC would be on track over an ITs FC. Anybody have any data on this? Sebring and Homestead numbers would be the best.

That's kind of a broad question. The answer will significantly vary depending on driver and prep level. Generally, an EP car should be faster than IT car as you know BUT there are IT drivers and IT cars faster than an EP drivers/cars. There are EP cars/drivers that lap other EP driver/cars. Is this a $5k IT car or $40k? $10k EP car or $80K EP car?

Check out www.mylaps.com where all data/lap times are posted for every SCCA event and many other races.

The fastest EP cars run laps about a second slower than T-1 Vetts, and Vipers......go figure. My corvette friends don't hardly believe that a 12a EP car can run with a stockish Viper.
Mark is right, these cars come in all flavors, but the nut behind the wheel is the key. Got to watch the GT3 race today, Thrash is a pretty awesome driver.

Anyway to answer your question at most tracks your talking at least 5-10 seconds a lap. IT vs. EP

Heh heh, I saw that yesterday on Speed Channel (thank god for Tivo ). I won't give away too much, but on lap #1 he puts it nose first into a spun car (traffic, no where for him to go) and runs the rest of the race with a hood that's folded in half. He's sliding everywhere and the announcers are joking about how he's turned the hood into the a big front wing

What do the GT-3 guys run under the hood? A P-port 12A? They must be carrying some weight - a lot of the other cars seem to be running 1.6L piston engines, IIRC.

Bill - since were jacking this thread......check the spec line but I believe its bridgeported not P-port. If GT3 stays alive I have a tub 1st gen I'll run in local races, while running ep as well. Thrash is getting twice the track time....
