I love driving in my deisels. They are narrow and the soles are thin. I never had a problem with grip. I dont know exactly what model they are but almost all Deisels are the same.

 

I've just started using Pilotis and they seem pretty good. I reserve final judgement once they're worn in.

I really like converse all-stars for daily driving pretty comfy and good pedal feel, I recently acquired some adidas goodyears I wear them everyday to school to work they are comfy as hell and awesome to drive in IMHO black suede with tan stripes = sexy

They're all different versions of Tuscanys. There are about 25 versions of the shoe.

 

ive picked up a pair of pumas... they feel great! Its got two pivot points on the back so its easier to brake/accel/clutch

i use some beat up adidas..the feel to the pedals are really good but i think its because there worn out so much..I tried driving with a new pair of shoes and its really hard. Its harder to drive more smoothly I guess im just use to driving in the adidas..

 

I have these for sale if anyone is interested, I put them on once but they don't fit my freakish feet. I know it isnt the for sale thread, but I'll be a thread **** and give it a shot....the ITS car needs some love. they are a size 10.5 and I think they run small, prolly more like fitting a 9.5, or fit very very snug. I paid $75, would like to get 50 of that back or so. Thanks!

I've found good, light, squishy-soled running/tennis shoes (cheap ones I got at kmart for like $30 for my big *** size 14 feet) work good. Squishy light soles let you feel the pedal through them more, getting more control, and they're not all big and rigid and 'in the way'.

Also, for feet as big as mine, I do not heel toe. I ball of foot/blade of foot.

I WOULD like a shoe made that somehow can grip pedals despite the presence of oil or PS fluid... I've had a few clutch drop mishaps (er, lurches) due to that on a previous car of mine. Any exist as racing shoes or do you just need to wipe them off regardless? :P

 

If you're looking for good pedal feel, the boat shoes/docksiders/moccassins work pretty well too. The more flexible the sole, the better...

 

Also, a good mod for shoe GRIP:

take off the rubber things on top of the pedals. Take some (1/8") thick Aluminum plate, and bend it to the curvature of the pedal. Cut it into two, and then shape with a bench grinder to be 5mm bigger than the bases on the pedals. Then, drill some holes. Put some grip tape on the things, and attach em to the pedals. Makes a hell of a difference, and saves you $35.00 if you like making custom stuff for your car.

If you don't feel like making the bigger bases, or being able to place the brake pedal closer to the gas, then just stick the grip tape right on the bare clutch/brake pedals.
