For anyone who is running C Street Prep, what modifications have you done to your vehicle only allowed in this class?

I need a front bushing kit, larger front sway bar, and LSD and I will be extremely competitive. Right now I am only fairly.

 

What class would porting the engine put you in?

Porting would put you in SM2
porting and slicks puts you in just straight mod

 

Mld>7, I should have been more clear, sorry. I meant I wanted to see what products and setups people are running in this class.

Right now I've only done a complete exhaust and headers. Next month or early May I was looking to get some Falken Azenis and maybe some new shocks. I figure that's probably my best bang for the buck in handling.

After those two changes, and another month or two, what should be my next step? Springs, struts, or sways?

I suggest get a full coilver system, and then swaybars.

 

This actually puts you in a prepared class. I used to run CSP , coil overs, 13x9s, SE motor with a Dellorto, header, Jacobs ignition, roll bar, no rear swaybar, large front swaybar, camber plates, 4.11 rear end which is leagal(this is stock in the SE), alum. flywheel, oh yah btw I have an 84GSL.

BTW, the motor was a STOCK SE, 6port. You can only up date and back date in the same body style. In other words you cant put 86' and up goodies in the 1st gen body.

 

alum FW is CSP legal? Hmmmmmmm.

oh xplikt get Hoosier A3SO3's if you want great dry tires. They are unforgiving, but dog *** fast.

 

Did you use that sway bar setup to keep the rear end planted when braking and turning? I am doing that same setup on my FC.

and can you tell me off the top of your head what class im in after i put slicks on?

 

Slicks are prepared and modified. Dont recall about porting although its past SP.

 

i havent been able to find anyone would tell me what class to run in so ive been cookin around under the sm2 name. still having fun, just wondering what class i should really be in

Ported engine and slicks will put you in FP, not sure about the SM2 stuff. Get a Solo Rule Book from the www.scca.org site and study it no matter what class you wnat to run.

I didn't want to go to a full slick yet. The Falkens are at least still a street tire by SCCA classifications. I'll probably be buying a set of those later this month.

 

I successfully ran CS a few years ago, but that was at a local level. Won championships in DC Region SCCA and MWCSCC (another DC Region class). I started out in CSP, then sold my equipment and set it up for C Stock- to be competitive. I guess a 2nd gen could be semi-competitive at a local level in CSP, but no way Nationally. A properly set up CSP CRX, Civic, Miata, etc... will kick the sh*t out of the RX-7 all day long. Don't get me wrong, I love my '7, but... My recommendation: do it for fun, enjoy it, and learn to drive your car better. If you want to be famous and win (in any class), look at the Solo II Nats. results and buy a car that for sale that finished up front or buy a new one of the same model.

I ran Kumhos and loved them. IMHO, a set of DOT R-compound tires makes a huge difference!

Yeah, I am keeping this mostly to a local level. If I was looking to be real compeditive I would have bought a CRX.
