Bobby, here are some typical 2:10 11 laps w/ the FSR Porsche group. Fast laid back group w/ good drivers and open passing w/ a point.

That was an excellent video, Fritz!
Former "Porsche guy" here ... I have tremendous respect for the 996 GT3, perhaps my favorite 911 variant (under $100K), and you made them look slow.
Do you happen to recall what kind of power level and tires you were running that day? Thanks in advance.

Here is my rotary love video:
http://www.vimeo.com/7747840
That's from an MVP event last year in the advanced group. I'm not fast like Fritz, but me and my little rotary machine could hold our own.
I'd be willing to bet money that my LS1 FD video's are alot better than that Two different set up's though.
I've owned around 25 or so FD's, all being rotaries, other than this LS1 FD we just finished. I absolutely love the rotary and will continue to own them. I agree, there is nothing that comes close to the fun a sequential twin car is on the street(I've enjoyed mine the last 10 years). However, the LSx swap makes alot of sense to me for a track car. We drive in a class that limits hp to weight... but not torque. I use to pull the Corvette's at Road Atlanta, from Turn 1 to turn 7, but as soon as we straightened up for the back straight... they were gone all the way until turn 1 again. I think a sequential car like Peter's would be ideal, but I don't like the extra heat the twins bring. Obviously he has his working really well(can't wait for a ride in that thing).
My car is basically 50/50 front/rear with it being 49.6 front/ 50.4 rear(that's right, slightly heavier in the rear) and perfect 50/50 cross weight. Not that much is different on the car. As bob said, corner exit is different with all of the extra torque, but I'm up for the challenge
Now that I have the same engine as the Corvette, with better handling and brakes, I'm going to have to come up with some new excuses once they beat me again

Fritz, I never get tired watching your vids, two things jump out at me from watching
1. You never get passed, must be nice keeping both hands on the wheel, (I wouldn't know)
2. the porsche drivers dont lift at all when the point you by, its like it hurt their feelings.
Johny

Thanks for the compliments but I get passed plenty by cup cars etc.... and as you know every now and then there's somebody running a sub 2 but not often at an HPDE event however there are always cup cars and even well prepped track cars running 2.02 to 2.05s at most every BMW and Porsche event. My best times are 7s (time trials) and usually lap at 9 to 11s. I think the car has a 5 in it if I can shorten the braking and gather a little more here and there.
It's funny you mentioned the P cars not lifting but usually they give me some help once they realize I can't over power them. They think I have massive amounts of power because I come up on them pretty quick but when you watch the vids you realize it's the corners and up hill esses that are making the difference.

I love GT3s and hope to own one but prefer the 997 to the 996 which to me needs a few more curves
I'd estimate between 330 and 340. It dynoed at 359 at 17 psi and I run of the 13 psi wastegate spring. I'm pretty sure I was running hankook z214s with some time under their belts which I think are a few steps slower than Hoos but cheaper and last longer which is probably why they're also little noisy due to the harder rubber.

I think I may of told you about the pink Miata. He actually ran me off the track while I was passing him in between turn 5 and 6 earlier that morning. It put me on a patch of wet grass just wide enough for a car doing 120mph with a concrete wall a couple of feet from my face... just hoping the car didn't snap to the left and put me in the wall. I was able to get back on the track, hit the brakes, and stop after the turn without incident... but I wasn't happy about it. I didn't trust him after that so I made sure I followed him around at least a lap before I passed him.
Look forward to living large in that new trailer of yours Almost Racing dude... Almost...

He must take his race line rather seriously
I remember that now and I'm sure that was a thrilling experience and a good chance to gain some religion.
I hope to be rockin in the big rig so you can use my trailer for a change
Please tell me the V8 isn't as load as the rotary?

Nice lap old man. What's going on with your T1 track-out? It also looks like you can go much deeper in the braking zone into T14, but then again can't we all?
I have a freaking wedding for the FSR 3-day event so I obviously won’t be there for that. I’ll be back at VIR for the BMW race school before the annual 4th of July Chin event. Headed to Mid-Ohio for a three day with PCA-Potomac in early May. You should try and make that.

I've seen too many oops moves happen at t14 by even experienced drivers so I play it safe and do the double brake method but no doubt I'm leaving some 10nths there for sure. However every now and then when I'm feeling it I'll brake midway up the hill and carry it hard to turn in which always starts a bit of heavy breathing lol.
I'm hoping my braking will improve some this year and my confidence should be better now that I have some brake cooling ducts installed. At 1st it's the turn in, mid corner and track out that seems difficult to master and once you figure that out you can never get good enough at braking and soon realize that's were the clock is really ticking. There's a tremendous amount of calculating and timing when braking down from 150 plus for 60 mph corner under varying conditions and that's were the greats shine.

On a serious note had that mistake happened in a v8 car most likely the engine would of been toast. However the trans was so screwed at that time 3rd, 4th and 5th were problematic for about a year. I need to take a picture of the 5th gear, like half the gear teeth were missing and there was metal floating all around in that poor gear box.

Pat,
After watching your vid I see you're taking the same line (probably had a dumb *** for an instructor) maybe you're referring to my smooth inputs

Yea, I'm talking about your uber smooth steering inputs... I brake very late into T1 thanks to a crazy guy I met about 7 years ago
After watching your video again I'm going very deep into T4 and probably losing some time there. It's a busy turn for me downshifting into 2nd and back into 3rd after 5a. My car would really benefit having a LSD in those corners. We both need to brake later into roller coaster and followed by charging much harder into hog pen.
Buy a data logger and post a pic of the new trailer.

I use massive slip angle(acutally pretty much everywhere lol) into 4, 6a and oak tree so no doubt a limited slip would help A LOT. I can't brake any later into 16 because I like a later entry into 17 in other words the James Clay line doesn't compute for me. A big slide leading into 17 to point the car takes of a lot of speed just when you should be gathering speed. It's probably great for racing but not for the clock.

Well, buy some new hoos and I'll meet you at Chin. I've hired a pro coach for car setup and to help the dummy in the left seat go faster. Would get a good time if Peter and Crispy want their suspensions tweaked too.

I'll see you w/ BMW but not sure if I'll do both BMW and chin together that's like 5 days at the track in 90 degree heat. For now I need to turn down the AC, I get hot just thinking about it
