Avon Tech R's?

I've been runnig Kumho E V700's on the car and want to step up a bit, but as always the budget won't allow Hoosiers or the 710's. Has anyone run on the Avon Tech R's? How do they compare to the E V700's? Tire Rack has them for only $13 more than the Kumho's in my size (225/45/15).

Primary focus is auto-x with a few trackdays every year. My E V700's have done 2 track days and about 80 - 90 auto-x runs on them. They wear well, but the grip was gone a while ago.

I have run the avon tech r's on our 91crx. They are great. another guy in the racing club won the solo2 championship on them, so they must work wll for both autox and track. on the track they are amazing. nothing but good things from here.

edit: it was a local championship he won not nationals.

They are amazing autox tires. I absolutely LOVED them on my turbo Miata last year. They are very soft. Grip everywhere and a very progressive break away. They durometered 10 points softer than a Hoosier 03A. Forget what the exact number was though. I will try them on the ITS car in the spring though I am concerned about wear on the big track since they are so soft.

the crx we have them on saw alot of track testing. Still seem to grip great. when we go we do probably 4 or 5 15 minute sessions and we did that i'm guessing 10 times on those tires. on top of that 2 high speed autocrosses and 4 solo 2's.

Sounds like some people are using them. Now I just need another set of wheels to mount them on and keep the E V700's for the street
