automatically e-mod?

ok, i have a race car that im building, and im wondering what my class is going to be. im guess e-mod, but maybe i can get away without going there. (talking scca autox rules). i dont have a copy or link to a rule book, but could someone help me out?

1985 rx7

motor-

-1986 merkur 2.3t engine
-manual boost controller
-4" pipe upper intake manifold (for intercooler piping)
-front mount intercooler
-14" electric fan (dont know if this matters, but the merkur had an electric fan stock)
-big VAM from turbocoupe

suspension
-eibach pro kit
-1985 gslse suspension (front and rear)

tires
-dont know what im going to run as of now, probably stock rims with sumitomo htr200's

misc.
-the motor and tranny are on solid motor mounts
-battery located in the back
-no interior
-4pt racing harness
-boost/a/f gauges (dont think they matter
-walbro 255 fuel pump

thats all i can think of right now. but im thinking the engine swap is goign to out class me like crazy. i read somewhere that engine swaps from different manufactures are automatically e-mod, is this true?

Sure, the engine will put you in E-mod. I recommend picking up a rule book. If it's the cash you're worried about, better stop the car right now as the class you're stepping into has a pretty hefty price tag associated with it. 1500 lb minimum weight (and plenty of cars carrying ballast to be there), open suspension, [essentially] open engine. Good luck man.

Sounds like a pretty sick little car you're working on though!

Much of the stuff you are doing will allow you to be in a street prepared class. Even with the interior removed, you could still run in prepared. The engine swap totally screws you.

It sounds like a fun car for the local races. If you want to compete with the big boys, this won't get it done.

If you remove the heater (or any part of the system other than the a/c) you'll be moved out of street prepared though. Not sure on the extent of your gutting, just wanted to inform you. Solid motor mounts will move you out of street prepared also, as long as we're noting things.

Welcome to my world. I've been in E-mod for 6 months now. On the local level so far I've won the two SCCA races I've been to, but nationally I have no chance in hell. But then again, I didn't build my car to compete in SCCA SoloII, so I'm not really crying over it. It's just fun to show up in a butt ungly RX-7 with a surprise under the hood.
