Auto X Ft. Devens Apr. 29
Anyone go to the Auto X event at Fort Devens on April 29th? I was the RX-7 that DNF'ed twice before getting the track down. i guess it happens. i had a great time, and i think im rethinking my whole building process just to set my car up for auto cross.

Yeah, don't sweat the off-course stuff. Next time out you'll do better at visualizing the drive during the walk-thru, and you'll probably do the walk-thru several times.
I went off-course on my first AutoX, and the next week I was one of the few who didn't have an off-course. Some of the vet drivers failed to even post a time (4 OCs). So it happens to everyone.

I was the guy that couldn't fit in your pass seat. You need to work on them belts so they can adjust.
Next event, come for a ride in my RX8. You'll see what it's like.
Also, there's a thread in the North East forum for the event since it was a more local event.

Hey Dave, thanks a lot for the encouraging words, you definatly kept me calm and collected in the staging lanes and made me feel better about my mess ups. Mistakes happen and i definatly learned a lot today, which is more valuable then coming out with some crazy time. Youve gotta learn how to crawl before you walk i guess.
KC, thanks a lot for trying anyways all my passengers hate my car. Its strictly built for me. Luckily we had Stacy around to help me out. She was very helpful, so thanks a lot for getting me set up with her. I think if i showed up earlier and had a chance to fully walk the course i wouldve felt more comfortable and natural out there, but it was like swimming in a sea of orange cones. But it was great meeting both of you, and i hope to see you again soon. I truly i appreciate all the help, and Dave i love the R2, enjoi her. I believe im going to Loudoin this weekend, so ill definatly take you up on that offer for a ride in the RX-8. I'll have to bring both my cars next time, so i can see what the factory RX-8 can do. Anyone else who i met today, thanks a lot for all your help. SCCA, great people willing to do whatever necessary to learn and have fun. thanks.

I had been autocrossing for 7 years last year when I went to Nationals. I went out for my very first run on the North Course and on the very first corner I DNFd when I went outside of the first gate after the start. It happens to everyone once in awhile.

Hey guys, David Here. I had a blast with you guys at Devens on Saturday! It was alot of fun, but i was sore as heck afterwards....As you said KC, i think i need to work on a little less steering input. We just ordered a set of black 8 spoke 16x8's with 225/50R/16 Kumho V710's pre mounted from tire rack. we should have them on the car for NHIS next weekend. Hopefully we wil stick a little better, and i can actually stay on course. Atleast the car survived, much to my surprise. I am going to swap my oil lines to my braided stainless ones so that none of you guys need to worry about getting covered in oil if you come to NHIS. I would love to stay and leave more, but my Art teacher is thinking i am not using the pc for school work.....haha, oh well. Talk to you guys later. If any of you guys have AOL instant Messenger, I am FC3S AE88. hope to here from you guys. Oh, and KC, great job on the numbers. i love 'em!

David's dad here, wondering why my son is posting here during school hours! I have to add that I had a lot of fun too. It was nice to be the fast one for a change instead of the usual butt kicking that David gives me in karts.

As far as events at Devens, it's done at Moore Airfield on the runways.
Schedule: http://www.ner.org/Solo/06/06schedule.htm
5 hr drive? That's a bit too far to come to events there. I'm sure there are many more closer to where you live.

well guys, i am looking out for ya. i am going to start work on swapping my oil lines to my new braided stainless ones to stop my oil leak, and reduce risk of blowing a line on the track at either NHIS or Devens. So you guys don't need to worry about cleaning oil off of the front of your cars. I am hoping i can get it done by NHIS on sunday. And i can't wait to get our Kumho V710's on Wednesday!.
