know of anywhere to get them, i check them out but cant seem to find anyone that actually carries these airjacks, perhaps ill weld a hydrolic strut to the frame and use that to lift the rear, its cheaper at least

Onboard airjacks are cool but do you really need the weight? As far as I know, the only reason anyone runs them is because the car is so light that it is under the weight reqirement for the class they run in, so if you're adding ballast to your car it might as well have a function. It does boost your pit speed though. What racing are you doing that you have to change tires that quick?

They do not add significant weight. Choosing to plumb hardlines to the jacks saves a bit of weight also. Averarge sportcars that are prepared for racing, not lapping, allow for the use of three jacks instead of four because of their reduced weight. Now if you weigh over 2500 pounds then...

I just want 1 or 2 for the rear to pick up the rear tires (Jacking up one side and the other to switching out tires for drift/drag/autoX but mainly for drift for me and then having to rejack each side for each one is a bitch and takes a long time!) It's especially crappy when it rains on you and your cold and tired and the cops are hassling you to hurry up and just wanna switch out those damn tires so you can get home Oh yeah, flats are a bitch on a dropped/low car. Getting a regular jack under there is some times impossible because of the angles or whatever.

I've only ever seen one set of used ones for sale (Ebay'd) and I was just out bid by a few greenbacks. I think they went for $350, an unheard of steal.

Air jacks? Any pictures of this device? I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. I know what it does now, but what does it look like?

I browsed the Truechoice website, but I couldn't find a picture.

For lack of a better explanation, an air jack is basically a solid cylinder inside a pipe. Air forces the solid cylinder down and raising the car up. The most famous application, I think, is in CART cars.

I'm sure you could fab one up in your home machine shop, but I wouldn't recommend it.

EDIT: Okay, in my explanation I say a pipe... I don't mean an actual pipe, but hopefully that helps to give you an idea what it looks like.

I noticed the specs call for a 20 bar air supply... that's 294 psi... a bit more than most air supplies you will encounter.

you can get a high pressure air system in a small tank via paint ball tank I think (they are 3000 psi via nitrogen but regulate down to what ever you want)

Yeah, you could do that, hell you could even go to 4500psi (I play paintball, i've got 1 of each)

You'd have to go to the field to get them refilled tho...

Just got my HRP catalog this week and they have a swell airjack setup for about $1500. All you gotta supply is air, and that at least if free

Damn, I could just see me at the track with air jacks. Thats one of those things were you kill everyones expectations cause when they see a car like that they expect it to be the fastest most bad *** car there.

Kinda like sometimes when i go to the drag strip and see some old big block muscle car get trailered in. I expect it to be running 9's or faster.....then when its slower than my car I just have to laugh

you could jack your rear up by the differential to raise both rear tires at the same time, it's up to you though.

i believe penske racing also makes air jacks.

I dont like carrying a floor jack in my car, especially cuz they are friggen heavy. They also do quite a bit of damage when they are slidding around in the back. They also take some time to jack up and for me, my rear is too low to just put a jack in the rear, i gotta jack up each side and then i can put a floor jack underneath.

oh i see, you mean for all around use not just at the track. i usually ramp the rears up on something, and then use the jack.

ramp up the rears? In anycase, i think that would be kinda hard stock/as is. With a flat, that would be even harder (when drifting, you can blow tires mad quick yo )
