The Schedule link works fine now, I just tried it. If you currently have a recognized Racing license you can register online. If you are going for track days then you will have to contact their racing school affiliate for separate schedule. They will be having their next event on Sept. 26th. It should be a big event if its anything like last years. We will not be attending as we will be on the other coast attending Seven Stock 12.

Thumbs up Atomic Rex Rx7 FD Manual Steering Rack

This just came in last week. It was part of a Group Buy they had and based on the original Feedback that was given by current owners, this just sounded like a must have for road racing. We plan on throwing this on ASAP so that we can give it a run for the November race here at Homestead.

Here is a Quote from someone who has been using this in their car for quite some time now
"Good evening all, my name is Tony and I'm probably the person with the most experience of these racks in the world. I've been running one on my dedicated circuit racing RX7 since the begining of 2008. You might say I was the guniea pig.
I've done a full season+ of front running UK national racing around the varied circuits of the UK with this rack.

Aside from the obvious build quality of these racks and their ease of fitment which I'm sure people have already descibed I can comment on their performance in some depth.

They are hugely suitable for circuit racing, whilst the steering weight is higher than a powered rack it is not overly tiring. Although you need some decent upper body strength, it also helps if you have adopted a more sensible 'bent arms' steering technique than the locked straight in front approach. You can still steer 'with you fingers and wrists' as you are supposed to and it is still possible to place the car accuratley on the track.
feedback is improved, particularly noticable over surface changes - without giving kickback. Very similar in feel to a 60's Lotus in that you allow the wheel some wiggle and do not wrestle the wheel to stay steady and unmoving.
As the ratio has been altered you can now steer through hairpins without shifting your grip (if holding the wheel correctly), and this means you can unwind the lock on the corner exit in a much more exact manner and match it to throttle application more accuratley.

For autocrossing (or auto tests as we call it in the UK), the rack's speed is very suitable for the rapid application (and removal) of lock that is required, it also helps in the direct and quick application of opposite lock when required. The weight of the steering is increased at slower speeds as you'd expect (compared to circuit racing speeds) but should be more than managable unless you are a 7 stone weakling. A largish diameter steering wheel would help in these situations, and this rack and a standard size steering wheel may be better for autocrossing, whilst this rack and a small steering wheel works well for circuit racing.

My rack was one of the first Jon made and has stood up to the racing very well with no faults or problems and it still feels as nice now as when it was new. It's finish has also stood up very well to the wet races we typically suffer in the UK.

Cheerio.
TC"

Thumbs up Atomic Rex Steer Rack Installed

It was actually a really easy Install. Just 4 bolts on the rack and the 2 tie-rod ends and your good to go. Took the car for alignment and we are all set for next weekends event down at Homestead. Its gona be a 3 hour enduro so we will be putting this rack through its paces as well as ourselves. Just driving it around the shop alone, I can note the tighter steering as well as a little more effort to turn. we will know for sure at the track.

Thumbs up Atomic Rex FD Steer Rack Feedback

Well, here is the breakdown.

This weekend went really well. we ended up finishing 2nd in our class for the 3 hour enduro. The steer rack felt awsome.

1. The steering does feel a little harder in comparison to OEM
2. you can significantly tell the shorter turn radius from OEM
3. I feel that its alot easier to recover the car in situations where it may get loose or squirly.
4. In turns where it use to require to shuffle the wheel to make the turn i no longer had to shuffle anymore
5. When in the banking around Nascar turns 3 and 4 you do feel the feedback from the track alot more as well as a bit more effort to keep the car on its intended line.

All in all i would say it was an excellent purchase and made the race car feel much better.

Excellent Product Atomic Rex

Thumbs up Fuel Surge tank Implementation along with Firewall upgrade

Its been a while since i have put any updates on here so here go some pics and info on where we are with the #25 car. (La Calabaza)

The car is running awsome. Last FARA event we attended in June at homestead we finished 1st in MP-3 and 2nd over all. Engine is running strong and we feel we have a very reliable setup now to allow us to fine tune the car even further in its handling capabilities.

As of today, we are trying to finish up the addition of the Fuel surge tank and also all the new plumbing involved in doing so. We also added 2 Holley Blue fuel pumps to feed the surge tank so we will be running the wiring nessasary to feed this and hopefully finish this part of the project by tonight.

As some may have seen by now. Als car just had a custom front splitter fitted. if we have some time after finishing the fuel system, we are going to try and make one for this next event.

Enjoy!
