2nd Gen Wins E1 NASA 25 hour

This is my first post after a few years of following the forum; I've read many posts and recognize many of the west coast racers. I thought this would be appropriate for the rx7 rotary nation! The field of competitors was strong, new 2006 cars, factory backed with large crews had the odds to win.

The oldest car in the E1 class, the #8 2nd gen had new paint along with excellent preparation from top to bottom by the best in the business for this years 25 hour. The 25 hour veteran team, most members together since the 1st 25 hour in 2003, did it the only way - keep going, never give up!

Congratulations - just surviving 25 hours is a major accomplishment, and getting in the top 10 overall is an even bigger accomplishment.

oh yeah you know what all the "experts" say. Rotaries won't last like Le Mans didn't count.
Why must we smear proof that rotary's are great engines all over the faces of the haters. Well at least the rep. the rotary has lets only the true tuners and rotorheads keep the rotary spirit alive.
Congrats on the win fellas.

"experts"

bkg - "Rotaries won't last".... We are 4 for 4 on the 25 hour races, every year finishing the race near the top, The longest stop not being over 30 minutes for all 4 years - things like broken tail pipe ( we were rear ended), stearing wheel broke off last year, mud in the rims two years ago, broken studs - nothing to do with the motor it has always went the distance - and we take it over 8k nearly every lap. Check out the burnout on the web site - that motor has lots left after 25 hours, its just getting broken in.

MrFC3S - you should know why the Jr. scheme.. "Cause the chicks dig it!!!" , nah it kinda grew into that look, we got the wrangler thing going on too

thanks all,
mazdaps1...

Congrats! I just finished reading a couple stories of the event that a BMW racer freind sent me, both BMW teams, neither one made it (one crashed out, the other one broke), both were much less reliable than the good old FC.

"what is that thing packing?"

Kim - The motor is a 350 Small-Block V8 with an Xtreme Energy 262° Camshaft is stuck to a Muncie 4-speed transmission, Holley 750 double pumper Carb and the magic comes from the pressure treated lined rollcage that holds 17 lbs of NOS - thats how we get around them fast honda cars...

naaaah! its a NASA PS1 prepared sprint car which makes it an E1 class for eduro racing. It landed in the Proformance Touring class PTE. Nothing magical just well prepared race car and driven smooth - no penalties, no spins and no contact in the 25.

Not that it was boring, all but that... we just get our smashin, dashin and rubbin out during the sprint racing regular season with the rest of the Norcal NASA RX7 cars (1st and 2nd gens) on lap one into turn one is a must see on any race weekend, I think I was touching six cars at once earlier in the year. Great bunch! This term pretty much covers it : "My drinking team has a racing problem"

see ya,

NICE.

Speaking of the threadjack about reliability, what mods are legal (or that you'll admit you did, rather ) to the engine and the induction/exhaust in that class anyway?

I think its good that some people just get up and race and put their money where their mouth is instead of just running their mouth.

Hey we all know when it comes to circuit or auto X the rotary can't be beaten prime example is the star mazda series those things run for 3-4 seasons straight. But as we all know these so called "experts" say they don't last. The rotary is just misunderstood.

P.S Luv this part mazdaps 1:The motor is a 350 Small-Block V8 with an Xtreme Energy 262° Camshaft is stuck to a Muncie 4-speed transmission, Holley 750 double pumper Carb and the magic comes from the pressure treated lined rollcage that holds 17 lbs of NOS - thats how we get around them fast honda cars...

basic rules are like the SCCA ITE, you can do anything with the exhaust, remove emissions, ecu is legal as long as it fit in the stock case, and thats pretty much it.

so its a stock 6 port s4 or s5 block, stock intakes, 170-180ish hp engine.
