Shipping vehicles

I live in an isolated city in Northwestern Ontario (thats in Canada). I'm looking for an FD but there aren't any for sale in town so I think I'll have to look out of province or maybe even across the border to the South. Here's the problem: I'm a full time student and can't go traveling to random places to pick up a car. I have no experience in shipping vehicles, but that is the way I will probably end up going. Before I do this however, I was just wondering if anyone here could give me some insightful tips on shipping vehicles. Are there good companies to use? Bad companies to use? Who usually arranges the shipping, sender or receiver? What kind of costs are involved? Is it more complicated/expensive to bring a vehicle across the border? Like I said, I'm just looking for as much info as possible before I commit.
