Ferrariyellowfd's 93 FD For Sale In GA

*I am posting this for the sole reason of protecting other forum members* BEWARE

Here is his FS/FT thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-rx-7-1993-2002-vehicles-107/wtt-93-r1-rx7-823944/

I want to first say that Ferrariyellowfd is a really nice person, his brother was cool and my wife and son liked his girlfriend a lot… nice people.....very hospitable etc…etc… his family is in the auto body and paint business…but I think Ferrariyellowfd might lack some basic understanding when it comes to the used auto industry, or at least the RX-7 that he has for sale.

I also want to say as a prerequisite that my expectations of a 16 year old car are not high…I understand the difference between normal wear and tear and flat out damage.

Here is the story:
After speaking to Ferrariyellowfd twice over the phone and researching his posts I decided his car might be worth checking out so I made arrangements to go look at it…I live in the Richmond VA area…Ferrariyellowfd lives in the Lawrenceville GA area…about an a 16 hour round trip drive. Ferrariyellowfd told me the only things wrong with this car is no AC and the rebuilt title. When I got to looking at the car here is what I found wrong with it:
  1. 1) The car smoked like CRAZY, like not your normal start up smoke…like ******* clouds. I noticed an oil spot on the driveway (directly under the engine) where the car was parked prior to the test drive. IMO The engine is nearly TOAST.

  2. 2) The front bumper was not attached to the car properly, huge gaps…you could wiggle both fenders with it.

  3. 3) The under carriage was COVERED from front to back with BLACK oil….I mean COVERED every inch.

  4. 4) The paint looked good from a distance, but was never wet sanded or buffed, we are talking MAJOR Orange peel, drips, sags, dings, scratches, it looked good if it was the first car you ever painted.

  5. 5) The underside of the side skirts had paint flaking off like crazy due to having painted over road debris.

  6. 6) The back hatch upholstery was torn and had holes in it.

  7. 7) The back hatch did not open properly.

  8. 8) The back hatch glass has deep scratches in the glass.

  9. 9) The interior plastics were in rough shape.

  10. 10) Carbon fiber hood had cracks in it (hidden pretty well).

  11. 11) The front windshield and rear hatch were missing the exterior rubber seals.

  12. 12) The engine cradle was from a different car as well as one of the core supports.

  13. 13) The suspension was more then shot.

  14. 14) All the vin numbers matched but they looked kinda fishy in the door jam. Could have been due to the painter…but im guessing the car was many different cars put together.

  15. 15) The front tires were BALD, the rears tires had very little life left.

  16. 16) The 99 spec front had paint blisters and many chips in it.

  17. 17) No way in hell this car would ever pass emissions (not a concern of mine).

  18. 18) The engine bay was filthy, nothing like the pics in his FS thread

Im sure I could have found many... many... more problems, but stopped looking.

Ferrariyellowfd seems very honest..... but had some very odd ball excuses for some of the things (listed above) I brought to his attention.

Me and my wife went out to lunch to talk about what I found (good and bad) and what I might offer for the car, needless to say, I did not buy his car, I knew I ran the risk of being out of the cost of the trip...but I felt the need to warn others on the site about this car, we agreed on a price in the 12k-13k range (NOT EVEN CLOSE, maybe to a mentally retarded ricer)...If Ferrariyellowfd sees this post...this was not meant to offend you in anyway or be harsh.... although you should be accurately describing the car you are selling. I almost think your post is so misleading that it should be removed from the site. Again maybe I should have asked more questions, but someone that supposedly “knows” cars should also be able to describe it accurately.

To sum this car up in one word "Frankenstien"
