Would it be safe to drive on the base map with just intake and full exhaust?

Hey all,

I plan on getting my PFC before getting an intake and the hi-flow cat. What I'm wondering is, until I can have it professionally tuned, would I be pretty safe on the base PFC map using 94 octane Sunoco gas with just an intake, DP, Hi-flow cat, and CB? Everything else stock.

How about with just the DP and CB, before I add the intake and hi-flow?

I will try to get down to Columbus or Indy to have it tuned somewhere towards the end of the summer, but don't want to hold off modding or driving in the meantime.

Thanks guys!

I almost forgot - I was *hoping* to run up to 13 PSI of boost as well like this. I don't know if that's ok with the stock intercooler and a base PFC though.

Your thoughts, please?

Thanks!

Safe as long as you keep it at or below 12psi boost with intake, DP, cat and cat back. Check you knock levels while under accelration in 3rd or 4th gear. Gettoing on the gas, letting off the gas, or changing gears gives a false higher knock reading.

Cool. Can you check knock levels with the PFC by itself, or do you have to have a separate knock sensor/detector?

Thanks!

If you get the Commander with your PFC you will be able to monitor knock.

I run mine on the base map. I use 10% ethanol 92 octane rated fuel. PFS cold air intake and filter. Downpipe, midpipe, and HKS Superdragger cat back (it may be the restrictive one). I set it for 10 PSI, but it sometimes hits 12 (when it's nice and cold out). So far ok (2 years on it).

I run intake and full exhaust on the base map. Still working on controlling my boost, but I have been running like this for a year. I really don't abuse the car though since it is going on 99,000 miles.
