Hey, my son has a power fc and fc datalogit for his honda an I just got the power fc for my rx-7 but I wanted to know if I would be able to plug his fc datalogit into my power fc and just download the fc edit mazda software and use it instead of buying another fc datalogit.

So every different engine and ecu gets a different fc box?On Datalogits website they ask what car will you use this on most so i thought maybe the fc box was semi universal and only software or reprograming would be needed.

The DL people are working on universal software, but the DL boxes are matched to the version of the PFCs they plug into, and the PFC depends on the car.

 

The datalogit box (at least my one) works with almost any PFC model. You do require the correct software (FC-Edit) for your platform however (FD3S). Perhaps somebody else can confirm this?

 

I believe you're right, the datalogit boxes have been universal with a few exceptions since last year. Mine is and I got it in December.

A: Unfortunately it won't work. The FC-Boxes look the same and some models are similar but they are different. There are some incompatibilities between different FC-Boxes and versions of software. It is possible that a version of software used with the wrong FC-Box will sent incorrect data to the target Power FC this could destroy the engine . I wouldn't recommend blowing up your friend's motor.

A2: If you purchased a TYPE 'A' FC-Datalogit then yes it will work on any SR20 and any Honda and most other cars as well.

Info on the site says the new type "A" is mostly universal.

 

Yes it will,the type A, is a list of cars in their webpage and cd, change the software and use the honda one, is in the provided datalogit software cd..and of course you need a PFC in the honda, LOL
