What can the PowerFC handle without tuning?

I'm just about to install a PowerFC on my brand new (and broken in) Pineapple large street port motor. I have Apex GT spec 3.74" exhaust, RE Amemiya HUGE intake, dp, and I want to run about 11psi if possible.

I don't want to install a wideband or fuel upgrades until I get my new V-mount IC. Should I just use someone elses maps with simuliar mods or can I set the thing on learning mode or whatever?? I have no knowledge about how the unit works, and I don't plan to learn until I get my wideband and dataloggit. I'm just looking for a temporary fix until then...I'm also not looking for maximum power, just what will get me by and be reliable. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Also, what about boost creep with the LSP, Huge intake/exhaust and dp? Am I safe if I'm still running the maincat?

You will not get boost creep with a stock cat.

I would not run the base map on a "large streetported motor". The timing should be changed to reflect the new intake and exhaust timing. Talk to Pineapple about the streetport you got, they should be able to tell you the change in timing they made with their port.

tyler is right. when my car was street ported my mechanic (Rx7fashion) was very, very concerned to put a special map for the timing. Infact he mentioned specific that the timing is very different.

if you put a base map, dont drive above 4500 until you get it checked out. I'd be glad to give you my map, but I have fuel upgrades (1200 cc secondaries).

As far as boost creep, I have a midpipe and I have never had boost creep on either sets of turbos that I owned. Even when I put a straight through exhaust I had no boost creep (yes stock wastegate).

the power fc controls boost very well for me, with the exception of some spiking during shift from redline 2nd to 3rd.

Hrm...Should I pay for tuning or use someone elses maps with simuliar mods? The port is a large street port, but I asked them to make it as calm a idle as possible, so it might be different. How long does it take to tune the car at 11psi to about 290-300rwhp? It should be putting out that considering the increase in airflow.

between you and me? You have no fuel mods but large streetport. Personally I wouldnot trust any maps from anyone that doesn't have fuel upgrades. If your keeping the stock fuel pump and the stocker secondaries I'd pay to have it tuned. Your probably looking at 3-4 hours of time. They charge like $200 per hour here for dyno tuning or $100 per hour for street tuning.

just my 22 cents.

$800 is %100 totally unexceptable as an option, I'm going to have to use someone elses maps with a Pineapple LSP. Where can I find maps?

Are you the person that just spent like $7,000 on a engine rebuild? But you don't want to spend the money for tuning? Tuning is the most important part of the equation, why not poney up just a little bit more now to have it done right and to make sure you won't need to replace that engine again any time soon.

I'd help you out but I have secondary injectors and highflow fuel pump.

You need to troll the forum, look for sigs with comparable mods and send a PM. Or just post a thread.

Maybe you can start a thread in the power FC forum entitled "post your mods if your willing to share your power fc Maps". Hell maybe if I get bored enough I'll start that thread. Jpandes had a pineaple engine put in and it backfired every 10 seconds, I gave him my map and it ran perfect, but he has almost exact mods as me.

If you want to drive up here for a saturday Rx7fashion.com (ricks rotary performance) can tune your car. he charges 100 per hour and tunes it on the street, gives you an a/f graph after.

Doesn't anyone tune the power fc where you live?

It's not that I don't want to pay the money to have it tuned, I'm just not ready to tune it YET. I still need to wait to get my IC and fuel mods, after that, I want to install a Wideband on the downpipe and get a dataloggit to tune myself. I just need a TEMPORARY fix.

I also talk to BlackR1 (Maesto Sparkaro) which is who I bought the PFC off of. He says it's tuned for a LSP and all the bolt ons including a midpipe, which I don't have...I'm gonna see how that works until I can find someone that has mods closer to mine and someone local with a dataloggit so I can install them. You guys think that sounds like a good idea? Thanks for all the help!
