water temp readins

What do you average and peak and on what conditions.

During day stays about 89C. Even through canyon driving with the fan mod it stays at 89 and peaked at 90 once. Shoots to 100 if I park and forget to turn on the fans.

At night it stays around 86-87. If I turn the fans off at night it will hit 90.

Just wondering what everyone else sees.

All this is with very moderate driving.

one time on a cold night I got on it driving through some twisties and it went up to 93 with the fans off at night.

For the most part I stay around 85 degree C but I can get up to 96 on a stopa nd go, 85-90 degree F day. My aftermarket gauge will say off the meter sometimes, have to figure this one out.

Hey, who drives that banana?

So you finally broke down and got a Power FC? You musta broke up with your GF or something

Did you sell the other heap yet????? teehehee

Wells I see 79 to 83 in the mornings, 85 if I really need to get to work fast.

Afternoons, when its about 85 to 90 outside, I see 86 to 90, and if I push it, it will go up to 96 to 100.

I run my fans all the time, so the above numbers are with the fans, plus I have an M2 Radiator.

By the way, you comin down here anytime soon??

Unhappy

I'm averaging around 89-92C during the day, when it's around 90 degrees outside. I don't have the 180 degree thermo and fan mod. I'm also, using the Fluidyne radiator. If I turn off the car and let it sit for 30 min it will go all the way up to 125C

I will get the 180 degree thermostat and fan mod at the end of the month. I hope it will make a huge difference in temp. It seems like it worked for you guys.

125 is definitely not good for the engine, even if it is off.

The pressure builds. What I do is when I get home, I have the fan mod, open the hood, and I have a large fan on a shelf that blows down on the engine. I let the engine run for about 3 to 5 minutes depending on how I drove it. The car fans run for about 10 minutes after shutdown, and the external fan is set to run for an hour. This seems to help with the engine temps.

Ultimately, I am planning to install an electric water pump that will continue to run while the engine is off with the engine fans running. I think this will greatly extend the life of the car, as well as allow for a more consistent cooldown.

when it is 100f outside, myt fans come on at 98 or so, and off at 92 or 93F. on the road I will see temps of 88-94. Fan never comes on unless I am in stop and go. care runs great like this another reason I love the PFC, I have a stcok cooling setup.

I normally see anywhere between 90-97c in stop-n-go. This is in 85-90f ambient temp.

I don't have any type of fan mod right now.

I saw 108 C on a hot track day, I had neither fan mod nor upgrade rad. Since we don't normally see too many hot days in the upper midwest. I am think my thermo stat is at fault. Any idea? What is the part # for the miata thero-stat.

atihun,

I would be very interested in finding out more about the electric water pump. If you do get one, could you let me know how it goes, and how, where you installed it. I have always thought for years that an electric would be the way to go after shut down, but didn't think it was possible for the FD.

Thanks.

Yep you can change the temp when the fans come on, with the Excel software.

My PFC was changed so that the fans come on at 89 and go off at 82 on the PFC. Option Magazine did a test on a 400 ps FD at 75 and 85 C. At 85 C the FD made 40 more horsepower than at 75 C.
