there is a thread where they relocated the ac controls and pfc controls to the center console. It looked really good too.

if you search on the forums enough there's actually a bunch of setups with moved A/C controls and molded commanders and such, it's a relatively simple propisiton, plus if you take the commander apart and it looks too difficult, as long as you dont snip any wires, you can just put it back together and not worry about it not working.

so the monitor has a plug? its not just a bunch of soldered wires to a board?

The lcd screen is on one PCB, the buttons, another. If I recall, there are 20 solder points connecting the two together. You have to heat up the solder, push some pins out, separate the boards, and solder 20 individual wires. Not impossible, but takes a steady hand. I used 22 gauge computer ribbon cable.

I had the controls in the ashtray location and the screen in one of the DIN spaces for awhile, but I didn't do a very good job of soldering the wires to the screen so it was a bit flaky. I have since put it back to "stock."
