Power FC stupid question.....
stupid question.....
ok ok i know this is dumb to ask but i just dont know. i was reading about people talking about " KNOCK" .....and my question is.... WHAT IS KNOCK? my PFC reads i have 70 at open throttle and i just don't know what the hell its talking about, and also how can i turn up the boost on my car without a manual boost controller? can the PFC do that?
thanks

Knock, I'm guessing, is just a term for predetination. It can be very bad for engines, hence the reason there is a knock sensor in the engine to detect it. The PFC just keeps track of it. Too much is "bad thing".
Hopefully, someone that actually knows what they are talking about will answer your question in full and you and I will both learn something.
Knock can be found on the web with a search. So can knock sensor. If you do not do a search first for explanations that are easy to find,
then you get no respect from this forum. It is an indication of lazyness, poor thinking, and disrepesct to us.
A knock sensor is only a specialized microphone that hears a limited range of audio frequencies. These sound waves can be caused by detonation, excessive combustion pressure, or other engine/drivetrain noises.
If the PFC value is high but the engine is not on boost, then it is noise not knock.
Only if it occurs after you start to accelerate on boost and before letting off the throttle then it might be true knock. This is the time period when all drivetrain slack should have been removed and the parts are under stress.
