Should I install my PFC now or wait?

I just bought my new FD a few weeks ago and haven't wasted much time getting to work on it. I have a track day this coming weekend and am trying to decide whether or not it is a good idea to go ahead and install my pfc.

The only mods that will be on the car for the track day are a downpipe, hks rs intake, airpump removal pullies, koyo radiator, aluminum ast, boost and water temp gauges. Stock boost levels on the stock seq-turbos (though they seem to spike a bit in 2nd gear). My wideband isn't installed yet (my welder isn't at my house right now and I need a new 02 sensor for it) and I don't want to install my EGT sensor until I convert it to single turbo.

So since my wideband isn't on the car yet and I can't actually tune anything, would it be a better choice to leave it the way it is or to install the pfc with the base map?

A1: since you removed the air pump, you will need the PFC to turn off the O2 feedback control switch, other wise your idle and low cruise can be messed up.

Q2: would it be a better choice to leave it the way it is or to install the pfc with the base map?
A2: the stock map now days on NEW PFCs is the base mod map, and will be safer than the stock ecu map due to more retarded timing. If you have the DATALOGIT already, then you can also lower your fans speeds for better cooling.

Thanks for the info Chuck.

I have not removed the airpump yet...my pulleys/blockoff plates will be delivered today, so I was planning on doing that tonight or tomorrow night. I do have the Datalogit (newer universal one) and would be lowering the fan temp settings. My PFC model is FD3S4...so I am assuming this one is one with the base mod map.

If all of this lines up correctly (late model pfc, etc.), you are saying it would be better to run the power fc than to run the stock ecu?

I believe that mdl# FD3S4 is the newer/newest version for the Series 6, so yes (if your PFC was new from the box) it's base map is the one that Mr. Westbrook was referring to.
