Power FC S5 FD Apexi Power FC install update
S5 FD Apexi Power FC install update
As many of you may know, we installed an FD Apexi Power FC into our project S5 Turbo Vert. We received calls and emails from many individuals asking us to develop an adapter harness for easier installation. We considered the fact that not everyone wants to permanently alter their engine harness, and/or take the risk of making a mistake with one of the wires that needs to be relocated. Long story short, we went ahead and developed a Harness Adapter Kit that makes the FD Power FC truly ‘plug and play’ for the S5 TII. One of the additional features is that the modification can be reversed, allowing the car to easily return to the stock configuration.
We have set up a special pricing webpage for the initial release. These prices will only be available until February 17th. After that date, the link will redirect you to the regular product page. The initial release pricing reflects a $10 discount when purchasing the ECU Harness Adapter only, and $15 savings on the Harness Adapter Kit which includes:
S5 FC3s APEXi Power FC Harness Adapter
GM 3-Bar Map Sensor Harness Adapter
FD Intake Air Temp (IAT) Harness Adapter

We are working on it, just as soon as we have a source for all the connectors it will be available.
Also the kit price reflects a $20 discount, that was our mistake but we will leave it until the 17th.

I guess there will also be a S4 version.
I would have to say Jap parts specialists at $690 + $40 shipping http://www.jappartsspecialist.com/
Which is the same guy that sells them on Ebay for $699 + $50 so you are better off just ordering thru the website.

what a fantastic setup!
The japanese when they built my car (built is a lose term) bastardized a series 6 wiring loom to work around all the bits that are not on a s5. Fondly enough this is also a series 5 vert'!
If only this came out 2 years ago! Awesome work guys

now you are refering to the chassie side harness when you say s5 right. because i am about to get a 88 gxl that has a jdm cosmo turbo motor with a single t70 turbo. And if i get the full PFC this will control ignition timeing too right.
In a short amount of time we will have an S4 adapter harness available. The S5 and S4 are very different. With the S4 adapter you will be able to run an S4 TII (or N/A) engine harness and S4 chassis harness.
Keep us updated. I am eagerly awaiting the s4 product.
Question... would you recommend buying a brand new FD air temp sensor from Mazda? Do they tend to go bad, or could I get away with a used part? I don't want to halfass it but I don't want to waste money either. Also, the ignitor. I don't know much about FD ignition. On an FC, there is the coil + ignitor for leading and another coil + ignitor for trailing. What exactly do we need?

You can buy a used intake air temp sensor, but if you call Ray at Malloy Mazda they are not very expensive new. For the FD ignitor install you are keeping the FC coils just bypassing the igniters. Here is a complete How to:

We are trying to source the connector it is made by Sumitumo, but they are slow to respond with any pricing. If we can get a reliable source we will make an ignitor install harness, then the whole conversion would only take about an hour.

When you say use shielded wire... where can we source this? This isn't regular radioshack wire right? I'm just trying to understand everything in this writeup. My only experience is installing an MSD on a leading coilpack on my nonturbo.
