Re-tune needed with a new fuel pump?

Hey guys,

I just installed my Walbro 255 into my FD, and after reading a few posts, I'm starting to get scared.

Do I need to re-tune my car for a higher flowing fuel pump?

With the stock ECU, It seems like it would be fine, but I'm terrified of the Power FC. I had the car tuned last year, but unfortunately, I'm hours away from any tuner, and I have no wideband to ease my mind.

If someone could let me know, I'd be really appreciative. I had thought that the FPR should keep the flow levels the same, but now I'm starting to question that considering it's a spring based system (isn't it?),and more pressure acting on it will force it open more (won't it?).

Thanks guys!

It won't.
You can think about this with at least a couple of 044 ...

The only way to tell is to put a wideband on it and see what the AFR is.

If your PFC was tuned with a weak pump, the tuner may have added lots of fuel to compensate for the low fuel pressure. In this case, a good pump will richen the mixture. If your old pump was keeping up with your mods, the new one shouldn't change anything.

I'm sorry but fpr is just that a fuel PRESSURE regulator... not a flowrate regulator. True, you don't have to worry about your engine blowing up, you are safer than before but I've seen cars that go from example 11.3 afr idle to 10.3 that's a whole point....just by switching the fuel pump to the walbro it FLOWS MORE fuel at the same pressure and like mentioned above.. your tuner prolly added extra fuel to keep you safe so I imagine that you were prolly running a little on the rich side to begin with now you're a whole point richer.... yeah you're prolly so rich now you're not making peak horsepower or torque anymore, on top of that you prolly have horrible gas mileage. My advice, get a wideband and get a re-tune.
