Put the PFC in my S-5, Need Help.

I followed the Banzaii how to. Now it starts right up and idles for 3-5 seconds then just dies everytime. I can keep it running, only if I constantly feather the gas. But I backfires and sputters when I do that.

History, I have had this S-5 Jspec import motor in my 82 FB for nearly two years. Car dynoed 249 rwhp at 10 psi on Octerber 28th. I was running all stock S-5 electronics, along with a Super AFC and FCD. Pulled all that junk out on the first of January after I took the car for a hour drive. So I dont think it the motor or periphals, I bought a used base mod pfc and commander from a local member, Everything on that works fine to my knowledge. When I did the wire harness changer over, I went ahead and removed the electric omp, So now only the absolute mininum wires are left, map, cas, tps, coils, injectors, knock sensor, water themosensor, O2, No additional sensors, emission type stuff is left.

Setup is 550/750/walbro255, aeromotive fpr 1:1 bnr stage 1 fan, full 3 inch exhaust, small fmic, cone filter with tid, MSD 6AL on leading, running T2 coils, ACT aluminum flywheel, serpentine underdrive pulleys, I also added a new GM 3 bar, and FD AIT sensor, Along with replacing the FC S-5 tps, and water thermo sensor about two months ago. I think that is everything pertinent, I also initialized the pfc, and turned off the O2 feedback switch, thats about it on the pfc side.

The worst part is no one in my area "Seattle" is a tuner. The only local tuner is Ralph at Groundzero he is down in Portland. I was hoping just to plug and play, then drive it down to him, Unfortunately I can't really even pull it out of the garage.

Thanks in advance.

you are probably running to lean! When you tip the throttle, the PFC adds some fuel, so you can rev it higher etc. You need to tune the car to get it running right. Put wideband, and check. If you have no wideband, go to local tuner by trailer.

Did you checked for spark on Trailing side of the rear rotor? Do you see a half of RPM?

please read this one:

Cant get your pdf to load up. I have LM1 wb but since I constantly have to feather the gas, it goes load, vacumm, load and the wb bounces back and forth. I am using the tach output on my MSD to fire off the tach in the dash. It is no longer fed via the trailing coil.

Thanks for you input.

OK, had my wife download the pdf to the desktop. I dont have the FD ignitor, sounds like I may need to do that, I am little confused on that part, Banzaii says you dont necessarily need it. I think I will check and see if the rear trailing is firing.

OK Update.

I bought a used FD map sensor from the same guy I got the pfc from. Set it to normal option, checked the output without the car running it was at -.27mm or something. Anyways car started right up. I let it idle for 10 minutes, the idle got progressively smoother and smoother. WB started out at 10.6 and went up to 11.2 after 10 minutes. My eyes are still watering.

Now the other problem no spark on either trailing coil, front or rear. So if any one has the how to on that with the FD ignitor please let me know. I also bought the ignitor today from the same guy. Unfortunately I have no plug or harness for the ignitor. I have started searching that out. Leading seems to be firing just fine. Just no spark on the T.

Thanks in advance.

the FD igniter is just as easy as the FC one, but needs complete different wiring. You have the PDF from my site, now you need FD wiring diagram to wire up the igniter. The FD igniter has no tach output, but you can use the PIN 2B and wire is up to yellow/blue wire going from the trailing coil.

Hope this helps.
