Knock value = 100+

I'm reading knock values around 20 up to 60 during idle, but when boosting I get knock as high as 109 at times. I haven't been able to get it down to exactly what RPM, but I haven't even really pushed the engine hard up to 10 lbs boost much. Usually when I get these high knocks, I'm not even at WOT flooring it and am probably just at 3/4 pedal down with around 8 lbs boost.

My mods are catback, intake, FMIC, DP and PFC (of course). I was under the impression that with my mods and my boost limited to 10 lbs, I shouldn't have a problem running lean. This high knock value still worries me.

I have read the other threads about knock values being relative to each car, but I guess I still would like some reassurance that my mods are within the green zone. I have gotten high knock values of around 60 when decelerating in 3rd and 2nd gears, but I have heard that knock values outside of boost don't count.

You are not having knock values at idle, you have engine/drivetrain noise.
Something his hitting something or your knock sensor is extreamly hosed.

This noise is also occuring when you are off idle cruising or on boost.
You can not trust this for tuning since you know it is bad.

You have to check everything on your car for this source of noise.

I agree with cewrx7r1.

Check for anything metal hitting something like the frame rails, the shock towers, or the strut brace bar (if you have one).

After that, I'd check your engine mounts and also check the knock sensor to be sure it is properly tightened (not too loose, not killer-tight either) and that the wiring for it is not damaged.

After that, I'm out of ideas

Ok, thanks for the suggestions guys, I appreciate the tips. I'll take a look and see if I can isolate the source.

I don't have a strut brace so it's not that, but I wouldn't be surprised if the motor mounts or knock sensor turn out to be the culprits. Thanks again.

rotary knock sensor= POS

they usually read inaccurately because they are aged and the gel that insulates them has melted all over the rotor housing..

how about moving the knock sensor to the front housing to see if there is any difference. I found hardly any knocking when i switched the sensor to the front. I wonder why though? If its during decel dont bother.
