Power FC Problems with XS tuned APEX RX6 single(I will pay for good map)
Problems with XS tuned APEX RX6 single(I will pay for good map)
I have had problems since I got the car together about 1.5 months ago. I am scared to push the car and to detonate my new motor. The car idles fine and under light load, but as soon as I get on the gas at all it sputters and backfires like nuts. Grounding helped out a bit but it seems to be that the car is running WAY TO RICH or something. The water temp sensor is good, and the fuel filter is new. I have a halmeter air/fuel and it is saying the same. I have read all the threads about XS not doing a good job on "mail order tuning" and think it is probably the same **** allot of others have gone through. Also it is a pain in the *** to send the computer back to XS and I dont know if I even want to.I thought going to the single turbo that everything would be easier but it is turning out to be a nightmare. Being from Canada there in no one near Me that has a clue of tuning my car. It sucks *** that I have invested all the time and money and cant get the car to run the way I was hoping. If anybody can help or if any one with the same mods wants to sell Me their tuned RX6 map I will pay them.
Thanks
Steve

You need to be careful with any further tuning until you ensure that your poor running condition is not due to some other problem.
Also, with the XS tuning of the PFC you would need to initialize the PFC before using the commander to enter someone else's maps, this would permanently wipe out what you paid XS to provide. Best advice, find a tuner and drop some $$$ to have them set the car up for you.
Everything changes when we start to add single turbos, port housings, mod fuel systems, etc. Once you get beyond the stock motor/turbos with the bolt-ons and remapped factory based ECUs the plug and play euphoria is over. It sucks to troubleshoot and tune things yourself unless you are prepared to break stuff and pay the time and $$$ to fix it again and again.

sub-zero, talk to RX-7 Specialties in Calgary. I don't know what ECU's they normally deal with, but they should be able to help you do some tuning. They have a three rotor FD in the latest issue of Performance Auto & Sound.
