Does the Mazda stock ECU do the same? It all is assumptions and belief in manuals. The PFC starts the engine without any problems even if it does or doesn't control the FP solenoid. Thus leave it alone.

The FP solenoid is useless and is a posible failure point. That is why we say it is not needed. The reason for it as described by the manual is misleading.
High pressure pusher fuel pumps with EFI do not have the problems of vapor lock like older low pressure pull pumps and carbs.

^ Unless you happen to have a 280ZX (which uses olfschool Bosch L-Jetronic EFI), which comes with a fan from the factory to cool the fuel rail and prevent vapor lock (or that's how I understand it works. I know it's to prevent vapor lock). It looks like an OEM turbonator. I would have never believed it if I didn't see it mounted on the L28 block I helped my buddy remove a few weeks ago from his 280.
