Preparations for New Engine

My new streetported 3mm engine will be in early next week. I should haev it in by next weekend. I am not sure anymore of my cars behavior with teh base mod map I weas using, as my engien was undoubtably in poor shape, ie, coudl have been detonating because of **** flying around chambers, etc. anyway, with the streetport I know i need a new set of timming maps. basically all I am looking for i ssomething to get me through break-in and to dyno tunnign session. So, I am thinking I will use timin gmaps from XS, or base stock which are quite retarded compared to basemod down low. then keep the base mod timing up top, where it is more retarded than base stock.

WHat do you guys think? Is anyoen runnign base mod or stock with a streetport?

Man, I can't wait until I get my bitch back together, I ordered a new 9.5lb flywheel too. shoudl be lots of fun. plus, I never got to really test out 1300cc injectors and 15lbs of boost

shop told me I only need ot break it in for 1000 miles sounds good to me.

thanks again,
Philip

What shop? Mazcare? Heh, you like my lightened flywheel Philip You'll love the fact the boost builds faster with it. Sorry this doesn't answer your questions.

Tim,

I got my engien from RX-7 Specialties, they told me about the break-in. I am putting it in myself. Mazcare wanted like 8k to do the job. I think they are smoking crack. grenated that included turbos, but still, who woudl recomen dgetting turbos from teh factory when mine work fine. That turned me off of them for good.

Yeah, I did like yours, I wish had done it when I replaced my clutch, I figure this will eb my last chance

You say it builds boost faster? I woudl think it would build more slowly becaue of the less mass. just like it builds better in 5th grear versus 1st.

BTW, I was talking to Stephan (SPOautos) it seems liek we are all in the same boat fo needing some tuning , but no place to go. I was thinking weekend trip to KD?

Well it builds boost faster because the engine can rev faster, getting you to the power range quicker, maybe my phrasing wasn't correct. it build boost quicker due to the engine being able to rev quicker. RPM point doesn't change for when you make full boost, but you get to that point quicker with the lighter flywheel.
Sorry I couldn't make it saturday, I got home from work and the wife had plans before I set the keys down.
