power fc boost adjustment question

hi

Finally am around to tuning my car a bit....it goes on the dyno on monday but I want to get it close to running as strong as possible before I take it over there.

I tried today to raise the boost using the commander for the power fc. no luck...no changes to the percentages would raise the boost at all past stock levels....I wanted to get them to at least 13lbs before the tune.

why would this be happening?...why wouldnt my pwer fc control my boost?...the lines are stock size and the pills are in them.

what has to be done to get the pfc to adjust the boost?

the turbos and the vacuum lines are absolutely positively not hooked up wrong or crossed.

is there a way to tell if xs actually tuned my pfc when I purchased it from the rx7 store to whom I stated my mod list to.

thanks

1) make sure you leave the boost page with the cursor on the set of boost settings that you want. If the cursor is on either the first two rows, then you will get the first set of settings, if it os on the bottome two rows then you will get the seccond set of settings.
2) make sure you modify BOTH the target boost levels AND the percentage base duty numbers. For 13 lbs you should have Target boost of .90 or .95, and base duty that is fairly high.

You might also have a small leak someplace that gets worse after 10 lbs, these tend to limit boost.

RE XS engineering. If they changed the base fuel maps then there is no way to tell, without hooking it up to an FC-Datalogit. Most shops will just enter the corrections into the adjustment maps, and change the timimg maps. You can look at the maps (above) for Base-Mod to see if they are different from yours.

thanks...

changing the numbers as you stated moves my boost from five to a max of nine lbs. I cannot get past nine lbs.

I found a small leak between the intercooler plumbing and the plenum which is now sealed. I do not see this making a huge difference though. I cannot find any other leaks.

I believe the power fc will handle boost control up to 14.9lbs or so...srmotorsports claims 17. I simply want to run my safe 13lbs until I get it on the dyno on monday.

could xs have accidentally set a maximum boost level to a lower number?

Im new to the power fc....all help is appreciated.

thanks

Jason,

Are you saying that your manual boost controller you used it with the stock set and got 13 no problem?

Have you tried to close the valve a little more?
