PowerFC question?

From the link below another member has put a powerFC up for sale. He said it is only for 96-98FDs.

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-rx-7-1993-2002-parts-99/fs-96-98-mazda-rx-7-pfc-commander-846419/

I was under the impression they were all the same from 92 ( RHD ) and up. Will this unit work on my FD and if not can someone explain the difference for me. Sorry if that was a newbie question.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe 96+ were 16bit ecus.

Also read here
https://www.rx7club.com/power-fc-forum-47/new-version-powerfc-faq-573647/

there are 6 different versions.

FD3S - 96-98 RX-7 old version
FD3S2 - 92-95 RX-7 old version
FD3S3 - 99+ RX-7 old version
FD3S4 - 92-95 RX-7 new version
FD3S5 - 96-98 RX-7 new version
FD3S6 - 99+ RX-7 new version

Each version essentially has a pre-tuned map on it that is used for the specific year it was created for. The newer the version, the better the base map for a stock FD.
Like RX72Heaven stated there are new things each one is tuned for.

So after more reading I might have bought the wrong one OR need some sort of connector. I have a JDM FD. From the link provided it eventually goes on to say ....

By the same token, if you're in the UK, Australia, or another right-hand-drive
part of the world and have a later model Japanese RX-7, you'll need the appropriate
PowerFC for your car's model year.

It sounds like it might not connect. I have yet to plug it in but any thoughts?

It will not physically fit as the FD3S4,FD3S5 & FD3S6 all have different shaped plugs but you can fit adapters, should not be to expensive.
