PowerFC and Engine Break in

I just got my block back from being rebuilt.
It has a mild street port, M2 9.5lb flywheel and an ACT clutch, besides that
all is stock (engine wise).
Should I break in the engine with my PowerFC or the stock ECU?
Thanx!

I'm assuming that you have your IC and dowpipe on? I would use the PFC to break it in. I don't think that it would matter which you used since you will be babying it for 500 to 1000 miles.

It should be fine w/ the stock computer for the break-in, but as soon as the DP comes off or you start boosting it will run lean.. Make sure to watch the A/F guage a few miles after first start, if you are running TOO lean switch over to the PFC. I had a DP & CB w/ my fresh streetport and the stock ECM ran too lean. Good luck.

After the break-in I'll be using the PowerFC and going single with a 60-1

I got the car running with the PowerFC, but it seems to be running a little hot, ~95C after just cruising around a bit at no boost and <4000RPMs.
I'm concerned that the PowerFC base maps are too rich for a stock setup like mine but I really like the ability to monitor the water temp via the commander since I do not have a water temp gauge.

You can always do this to turn your fans on and keep your motor temps down:

I've used the power fc to break in a motor. It has a few advantages: You can monitor all your vital signs, and you can set your rev limiter so that you know (for example) you won't accidentally get wheel spin in first gear and see 7k rpms

I've been easy on the throttle, I was told that the worst thing was boost so I try and keep that away.

Actually, none other than the illustrious David Barninger, esq., (of KD Rotary fame) recommends some boost (around 7 psi initially) to help seat the apex seals.

Don't worry I already hit 5psi a couple times despite my best efforts not to...
