Power Fc For Fc3s (pics And Tips)

Hi,guys.some of us have a power fc ecu from ap engineering from fc3s and some are interested to get one.i think it will be nice to collect all informations, tips and pics for this subject here to learn more and help the newbies.we know that ap engineering had power fc only for s5 rx7 (FC3S 89/4~91/12)and now is discontinued (there are about 2-3 new for selling about 1480$)without the commander and sometimes there are some used selling on ebay about 1050-1150$ with the commander or without.with some of theme you can get the fd relays you need to install to run the car right.the fd map sensor and the fd air intake sensor.i know that you don't need the fd water temp sensor because between fd and fc is the same part.i also know that you cant use the fd commander.i think its good for us to add a boost controller before run the car with the power fc because yesterday i hit 0,93 boost and thanks got i didn't blow the engine....now fotos....ecu and adapter harness, ecu inside, commander, and fd relays (map sensor and air intake sensor)
i hope that you add more info and pics.thank you!

scroll down to ALL DATA INIT.
Then select YES in the next screen.
it well set the pfc back to the factory settings and map

Why do you keep calling something a relay? There is no relays just a fd ait, pressure sensor, adaptor harness. The fd commandor is the same for the ap engineering pfc Model 414-z001 . Their is no difference. If you are going to start a thread about ap engineering pfc we need the facts to be strait. What makes the two pfc different is the software in the pfc not the commandor. Apexi also makes a boost controller kit that plugs and play right into you factory boost solenoid.
Thanks Robert

Model 414-z001 is the the stock commandor for the fd pfc. You may have had a 414-z002 or zoo3, that will not work because it is for a 96-up fd. The commandor is the same as for 92-95 fd .
Thanks Robert

I installed my boost control kit for the ap engineering pfc (its the SW20 kit I guess I need, this is what a shop told me. the connector was the same though), But now that it is installed, I dont see a check in the box for the TCN which is the boost controller right? I dont have a commander, I do everything via datalogit. I have seq cont turned off like I'm supposed to and have all tuner opts off. I'm not sure if the TCN box was checked before because the car didnt have a stock boost sol when I got it. Is it supposed to be? I cant test if I can control boost because of my big exhuast and I havent ported the turbo flapper yet.

I believe you go to setting 5 and enable the boost switch. Than you can set your boost settings on setting 1. So you are using the mr2 boost contoller kit ? It plugs and play right in.
Good luck

Ya SW20 aka MR2. Setting 5 boost switch is to set a boost toggle like in the AVC-R. You hook a switch to the datalogit (SW4 I believe) and you can set a low and a high boost setting based on switch position. To my understanding, the switch won't work with the boost controller kit.

Just wish there was a sensor check for it or something so I can tell the comp sees it (is there?). Hopefully it is plug n play.

You can use the datalogit. That is what you use to tune your power fc.
Thanks Robert

ive got the boost kit for my ap eng pfc. It connects right into the stock boost solenoid plug. However, i can control boost via my commander/datalogic but i cannot get it to go past .75 mmhg (i think thats what it reads in?). I have a bnr stage 3 so i dont know if its just the solenoid not turning the boost any higher or if its something stupid like my bov opens up somehow letting pressure out?. It is slightly aggrivating so if someone has a solution or some kind of test, please let me know.

You do not need the maf anymore. Toss it or sell it.

Sorry I never posted back, but I found out the answer myself. Should have updated this with the answer haha. My bad. Nikoe yes you can use the datalogit. That is how I have been tuning my car all along, with the help of the LC-1. As stated above, I dont have a commander. Anyhow, the computer will to see the boost controller on a sensor check. Here is why: Its two wire. One power, one ground. The power is a direct representation of the duty you set. Niw it would have been nice if they set it up to read a voltage offo of there to let you know the comp sees it, but the datalogit wasnt designed to read it. What is strange is though its not designed to read it it only shows fault with a short. If you Unplug the boost controller, stock sol or aftermarket, it shows no fault for the boost sol. Guess they did that because most people dont use the PFC sol.

And no you dont need you MAF You can completely remove those wires from the harness now.
