So I recently purchased an apexi Power FC And Banzai Auto Harness. Car starts, idles and runs good after you hit 2000 RPM. Before that, well let's just sat it's slower than molasses. I can hardly pull away from a stop light without having to get pretty heavy on the pedal. But once it hits 2000 rpm, it's pretty sweet. I've noticed at idle my AFRs are 10.9 to 11.1. So my question is: If I take it to a competent tuner, can they tune it so I can get some more low end power back or should I just go back to the stock ecu? Maybe Banzai Racing can chime in on this. I know they have an auto FD build. Thanks in advance!

Car needs to be tuned, it is too rich. Used or new PFC? Lists your mods and the changes you have made to the stock map, if that is what the PFC is running.

It's fairly simple to lean out your idle cells and low load/low rpm stuff using the commander. Not ideal vs using a Datalogit but you can get it done in your driveway in about five minutes. Just don't mess with the boost cells

It is a used PFC. Mods include deleted power steering, deleted air pump, deleted A/C. I have installed Apexi Intake, Bonez downpipe, Power XS SMIC. That's about it. Everything else is stock. PFC was reset. O2 turned off, Ign Control turned on. Idle speed settings are 1000 no load. 950 EL and 950 AC. I am assuming the rich idle is what is contributing to the sluggishness? This thing runs great under boost and AFRs are good there. I mean right where they should be. I am learning the tuning process and I have a brand new Datalogit but haven't had time to set it up or mess with it yet. I am also subscribed to High Performance Academy and have done some reading on tuning but haven't actually learned it yet. I certainly want to do this right! I really appreciate and respect you guys and your advice.

I forgot to mention the turbos are have been converted to non-sequential. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Your idle speeds are set up incorrectly. NS turbos make a car sluggish. You need to turn of the sequential twins in the PFC.

For a quick fix go into the PIM settings and lower the fuel to 80-90% in the 1000 rpm range, this should start to lean out idle and throttle tip in until you have the car properly tuned in the base map and correction cells.

Thanks Banzai, I will try that and see how she responds. Turn off sequentials, PIM settings, lower fuel to 80-90% in the 1000 rpm range. I'll report back. ��

So I did that and its a little better AFR's are better. 12.5-13.2 at idle in Park. They go richer when I put it in gear. Reduced fuel under both and kind of got it to be closer. Now when I put it back in park, it surges for a bit. Blip the throttle and the idle resumes back to normal and back to the decent AFR's. When driving, its still rich from the line, then leaner, then rich. So...I'm going to hook up the Datalogit and start working on those idle cells and AFR's. I have Wargasm's write up and I have also read the Making your PFC safer thread. Just trying for the basics here. Thanks again everyone for your help and if there's something else here that you think I should do, please feel free to chime in.
