does having a ported engine affect one's requirements for timing, e.g. can run more advanced timing with a street port?

BTW, this ******* idle thing is pissing me off, it used to just happen in extreme heat traffic, etc. now everytime A/c is on with PFC is does it. It has worsened with the midpipe. It idles like a champ, 720 rpm, then after a few secs, boom 600, 615, argh, stugling, you can see it trying to bring it back by the vacuum diminshing, WTF.

I am taking my car with Spyfish's ignition maps to the dyno next week, I will let you guys know.
