I don't know of any Datalogit software for Pocket PC right now, but I'll be writing some later this year that will incorporate all Datalogit and Apexi Commander functions. It will require either a serial port or Bluetooth on your Pocket PC (both are available using Compact Flash add-ins).

No worries. I have it all working on the desktop PC - I just need to buy an iPaq or similar next month and port the code over, which should be pretty simple as it is in .NET

Will update you on here when there is progress.

Since datalogit software uses strip.ocx I understood that it could not be ported to any Windows CE type enviornment (including Pocket PC which is CE 3.x). Is the software you are writing compatible with datalogit or does it instead supply the same functionality in a completely novel presentation?

Thanks for the work on this

Hi Jeff,

I'm re-writing the software completely from scratch entirely in Microsoft VB.NET. At the moment it is only *reading* all the parameters and data, but it is little effort to write all the parameters back in, I've just not had time yet to do it

I can't wait, my 3650 is chomping at the bit to replace the tablet pc for tuning duty. Do you have a development list of features (map refs, charting functions etc) that you hope to implement long term?

Again, thanks for the programming efforts.

Hey guys,

I've not had a Datalogit for the last couple of months so I've not been able to do much work on this, AND I managed to crunch the front of my baby after pulling into the path of a guy in Hungary!

I'll borrow a Datalogit again as soon as I can and get working on this. I have the iPAQ now (5550) and I'm going to build 2 solutions - a cabled one and a Bluetooth one (so you can easily tune it even when its on the dyno). The cabled one will only require a serial cable and the software. The Bluetooth one will require a serial->Bluetooth adapter for the Datalogit (about $150).

As soon as I have any news I'll let you know! I have the code running on the desktop PC and I have some awesome graphical gauges showing all the output from the PowerFC - I just need to port it all over to Windows Mobile!

This is sounding more and more promising everyday! Just make sure it isnt proprietary to the 5550 iPAQ and Pocket windows 2003, so i can bust out my old 3670 and start tuning.

btw, could we possibly use the iPAQ as just a gauge display also, so i could unplug my commander and not have the temptation to mess with my tuning every 5minutes? lol

Yes, it will completely replace the need for the Commander and look a lot better for it!

The displays I have are *very* like the factory-fitted NISMO displays on the R-34 GTR Skyline if you have seen those? I have both "analogue" style gauges (i.e. like standard after-market round gauges) and bar gauges (you can fit loads of these on-screen).

I won't be using mine for mapping very much, it'll mostly be for the gauges.

It will run on any Pocket PC that supports .NET Compact Framework (I think that is Pocket PC 2002 onwards).

well, the $30 upgrade to pc2003 will be well worth the advantages over the 20x20 monochrome commander!

nakasaki,

Do you have any updates on this?

I see now that your last post was on 10-30-03 so I am guessing you do not.

neit_inf,

I got sick of waiting for someone to come out with a PDA interface for the FC-Datalogit, so I decided to write my own.

I bought a used Sony Clie TJ27 (PalmOS 5) off ebay for $90 that I am using for development. So whatever I write should work fine for you. Which device are yo using by the way?

I'll post some screenshots later today. All I have right now is a text display of a few of the channels that are monitored by the Commander. But I plan on implementing most of the features of FC-Edit including map updates and monitoring A/F ratios (which I can't do until I get my DIY wideband working).

If you (or anyone else) knows how to develop for the Palm, I can send you the source code so we can all work on it together and get it done quicker.

Anyway, if you are interested I can send you whatever I have right now.

The auto a/f tuning has been a rumor for a long time and I have not seen anyone follow up (w/ datalogin). Please do it!

I have a Tungsten T3, just love it! Unfortunately, I don't know anything about programming for it. I can't even get the wireless Bluetooth internet connection to work! LOL. I was planning on getting an Autoenginuity Scan tool for my current car it looks great! Check it here: www.autoenginuity.com

Here's the screenshot I promised. It isn't much to look at, but the hard part of interfacing to the Datalogit is done. Special thanks to Goblin for initially decoding most of the protocol (https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=147597).

The RPM value is off by a factor of 40 and the Boost is incorrect as well (I still have to figure out the formula for converting it to mmHg vacuum).

The next step is to add some graphics to the interface (virtual guages, etc...) and to read the fuel, igl, igt, and split maps and display them as tables along with a trace feature. After that will be the ability to modify the maps and write them back to the datalogit.

Any suggestions for how to make the graphics and UI better would be appreciated. Also, if anyone wants the source let me know. Right now it's only for the Palm, but there is enough interest, I can port it over to the PocketPC.
