PFC tuning help:

Hey guys, I'm about to install my PFC tomorrow and wondering if anyone could help me with a basemap. My car is mostly stock (streetport, downpipe, testpipe only). I heard that it comes with a base tune, but i'm not sure if it comes out of the box expecting a more aggressive setup. (the main reason I want to install is for some reason, under WOT the boost spikes to nearly 18psi... yikes). So of course, I can only halfthrottle all day, and it's getting a bit aggravating

Any help is apprecaited, thanks in advance.

Have you never heard of a boost controller? You are lucky the engine is still together. If you still have the stock cat-back exhaust, you can probably still control boost to 10-12 psi with a controller. If not, you'll have to remove the midpipe.

I previously bought a turbosmart mbc, but didn't install it since the standalone could control that, and it's basically a waste of money. I wouldn't consider it luck that the motor is still together, I spiked it once/twice, and since then: I've controlled the throttle to keep boost under 7-8psi for the most part.

YOu should be able to control boost fairly well by buying a simple needle valve and adjusting it. As far as calling your car basically stock- it isn't with a streetport. You need to get it tuned otherwise you'll be spending 4-8k on a new motor. If you need a map, PM me, as I used to do maps for a few shops throughout the country for about 9 years. Just don't boost it until you get the map first, and then the needle valve.

A street port removes you from the almost stock catergory and will require AFR and timing tuning to prevent detronation.

If you want to learn about PFC and DATALOGIT tuning, PM me about my tuning notes package.

Base mod map and you did not run 15-16psi.
